HISTORY IS MADE
My niche is writing and this venue gives me the opportunity to do just that. To share the many topics that cross my mind during a 24-hour period. What, you may ask, is my all time passion--- its photography. A hobby, which I will include and share with you from time to time. After all, our world is full of everyday events, subject matter and pictures.
For instance, on January 20, 2009, we witnessed the swearing in of our 44thpresident Barock Obama. This indeed was an historic event. He is a communicator, a creative thinker, and not afraid to reach out to the individual for input concerning the country’s problems. He is a man that has gathered around him a resource of intelligent and experienced individuals in their fields.
So, engage yourself and be a part of the solution. Make your voice heard by logging onto http://whitehouse.gov, and tell President Obama what your thoughts are on the economic issues that you are facing…
For me the issues are free trade, job outsourcing, and the greed of CEO’s, high cost of gas, social security abuse by our government, unobtainable health care, poor education, and boarder security. Maybe my list will aid you in writing your email.
An article I read on the internet today also troubles me; here is the link. Take time to examine it. You may think this is irrational but, in view of our country’s job losses and financial decline, one must not over look the real possibility of such an occurrence.
The basis of tragedy is man's helplessness against disease, war and death; the basis of comedy is man;s helplessness against vanity (the vanity of love, greed, lust, power). ~~Dawn Powell

Personally I am pro-Obama and Democrats, but I listened to what you had to say. At least your are respectful about your opinions unlike others on here, but I am a pro-Obama girl!
SweetiePie, thanks for your nice comment and taking time to read my hub. I am hoping people will wake up and realize they need to be concerned with “their” government. The everyday decisions they make affect all of us…We are their boss---they were hired by us through our vote. If, they ignore our voices (as they do) then it is time to fire them…Let us begin that strategy in 2010-2012-2014 by voting all incumbents out…
"No government can be maintained without the principle of fear as well as duty. Good men will obey the last, but bad ones the former only. If our government ever fails, it will be from this weakness." --Thomas Jefferson to John Wayles Eppes, 1814.
Great hub, and I am glad you keep sharing your concerns. Now hopefully others who read your hub will also :).
Delores, we need to take charge again through our votes, calls and letters. Our representatives are out of control. As the old saying goes, “complete control, corrupts completely.” That is exactly what happens with career politicians...Term limits of eight consecutive years should be imposed on ALL congressional leaders with election every two years.
Thanks for stopping by, commenting, and start making your voice heard. I feel strongly about voting all incumbents out in 2010 and 2012. Then if the newbie’s don’t toe the mark, we vote them out. If we keep that up, eventually the message becomes clear and they work in our best interest! After all, they do work for us!
Nancy, you are so right. How many times have I just sat here griping and groaning without really making my thoughts known to the people in power. If enough of us did speak up, maybe someone would listen.
Your right mulberry1, we all do need to be involved so welcome aboard...I look forward to your future hubs...
Thanks for the nudge to participate in the discussions. We all need to be involved!
Nice hub. Thank you for sharing. I too am an author. Please visit my hubs when you have a chance, my link for my book is there too. I would love your feedback.

Sweetie Pie in my opinion, one’s party affiliation is not the problem. It is the fact congress continues to ignore the concerns of their constituents. If they would work together and quit this “fighting on the play ground” behavior and “political agendas” it would be a start.
However, I believe they all have become [after a lifetime career] greedy, smug and corrupt. That is why I believe in term limits for congressional leaders, the president and Supreme Court members.
I always give fresh leadership time to prove their selves when stepping into a new position. I do research on those running for office and follow their record of accomplishments and viewpoints. Keeping this in mind at the poles helps one to make a viable choice because you will be voting for the person, instead of party affiliation and that is as it should be!
