Nanny Cams for Nurseries

by Rod

Recently, our friend Madeline gave birth to her third child - it was a baby girl that she named Michelle. Madeline told me about how she was looking for a camera to help her watch the baby...

My asked her to check out nanny cams. Her answer was, “You know, I don’t have a nanny!”

I knew she was concerned about her baby. And, most of us are these days. We are worried about the trouble that babies can have unless they get help from someone.

Madaline and I talked about her greatest worries. One particular worry is this threat of SIDS, (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). This cause is vague because no one is quite sure of why it happens. We do know that it can strike both sick and healthy children - and that it may be related to certain types of sheets and blankets and probably related to certain sleeping postures.

Common cautions are that the baby should not be put around any soft bedding and you should be sure that your baby lies on her back.

Madaline said, "I can’t have my baby Michelle sleeping on a hard board -- and how will I know or have any guarantee that she’s constantly sleeping on her back? My other kids could turn over very young.

i told her that she could buy some "peace of mind" by getting and installing a nanny cam over Michelle's crib.

Many parents already choose to use audio monitors that allow let them to hear when their child begins to cry -- but we all know that these audio monitors are not sensitive enough to let you know if your baby has difficulty or stopped breathing.

Really, the most logical step is to install a camera. They come in various models and you won't even be able to tell that there's a camera in the nursery. Yet, you can always keep an eye on your baby while you’re busy working somewhere else in the house.

Still, you should check on the baby occasionally in person, of course. But, if you have a monitor near you, you can frequently check to make sure that Michelle (or our child) hasn’t rolled over onto her stomach.

Like I mentioned, these Nanny cams are designed to be hidden so that they won't overtake your decorations. They are lightweight and small. But extremely useful for many situations.

I went over to visit Madaline and Michelle this week. She really thought that the portability of a nanny cam would be handy - because she has two cribs, one upstairs and one in the den across from her office. Madeline can easily clip the cam to either crib - depending on what she needs that day.

Isn't it wonderful that we have these kinds of cameras to help us provide better parental care?

I really liked how you said that the nanny cams provide the families peace of mind to know they can see all that i the nanny is doing. I also liked how you can just keep an eye on the baby when you just in another room.
