Napa Valley at a Glance
52It's definitely what they say...
Let me start by saying i'm no California native, my current job has given me the wonderful oppertunity to experience this beautiful place.
I'm a modest wine condisour and really prefer beer since that's just the type of guy I am; but I do understand and appreciate the complexity and science behind a good wine and the history it comes with.
Before I went to California I wasn't a huge fan of some of the wines i've tasted in other states from California; so I was going to the vineyards with an open mind. I'm really glad I decided to try it.
First off, that part of California is beautiful, they're are vineyards everywhere not just Napa. Napa is more or less the hub of wine country I would say.
There are many other locations all over, and every vineyard has it's technique and style that they put into it's wine.
Going to the tasting rooms, you get a great appreciation, and the wine definitely tastes better than stores, they normally give you the wonderful reserves and ports that are normally not shipped commercially.
Another thing, if you get the chance to take your special someone out there you have to try the hot air balloon ride. On my wifes birthday I surprised here with a Wine country ride and it was beyond perfect, definitely more than I expected. The balloon pilot maneuvered the bottom of the basket over a vineyard lake and it was amazing. At the end of the trip we landed and had some champaign and and queech in a local vineyard all part of the package. The price wasn't to bad for what they provide.
Unfortunetely my wife and I had to relocate shortly after our arrival in California and we will always adore our memories we had there.
So if you're ever wondering is Napa worth going, I hope this give you a little help.
A good season I would have to suggest is around November, that seems to be the prettiest I would say.
Take care and I hope you get the chance to share this memory with us.
