Uchiha Itachi is very popular character from Naruto series. He is Sasuke's older brother, missing ninja from Konoha and member of Akatsuki.

Itachi was born into the Uchiha clan and was praised as a genius, which appears once per few generations. At the age of only 4, Itachi had already witnessed countless deaths because of Third Great Ninja War.That trauma made him a peaceful man who hated conflicts.

At 7, he graduated from the Ninja Academy at the top of his class after only one year spent in there. He was able to use the Sharingan at age of 8, became Chunin at age of 10, and an ANBU Captain at age of 13. At some point, there was situation, which lead to destruction of Uchiha clan. Itachi slaughtered his entire clan overnight, sparing only Sasuke.Truth about this incident was revealed to us after very long time and it was the biggest twist in the story. All the time was Itachi considered evil, merciless and cruel villain.Uchihas were planing a coup d'etat, which would lead to civil war that also would probably outgrow to next Great Ninja War. Knowing this Itachi became double agent and worked with Konoha council. He, who only stand a chance against other Sharingan users, was ordered to wipe out the entire clan. Itachi completed this mission except for one mistake. He couldn't bring himself to kill his own brother. Sasuke's life was worth more than the village to him.

Instead, he wanted Sasuke to take vengeance on him and become a hero to Konoha.Itachi left the village as a traitor. He sowed hatred in Sasuke's heart hoping that he will become strong enough to kill him ,so he will avenge clan and will be hailed as hero in Konoha.Knowing that Konoha might still want to eliminate Sasuke, Itachi arranged with the Third Hokage Sasuke's safety. He also threatened Danzo to not harm Sasuke or he will reveal Konoha's secrets to enemy countries. Itachi joined Akatsuki in order to keep an eye on that dangerous organization, all the while planning for his death at Sasuke's hands. He wanted to die criminal, a traitor.And so it was, Itachi died during the battle with Sasuke. Accepting dishonor in payment for honor and hatred in paymed for love, even then Itachi died smiling. According to Madara, Itachi died due to disease. It was not further explained, but I suspect Madara to have something with this. Itachi grew out too powerful and Madara couldn't control him as well as he would like. Before death Itachi passed all his techniques to Sasuke.

Since a young age, Itachi was excellent in everything he did, even his teachers said his progress hardly required any help. In the few battles he had been seen ,he was shown to be an incredibly powerful ninja, proved by easy defeat of Deidara, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Orochimaru. Itachi's techniques also often included usage of crows. This was showed with his creation of a clone that vanished into crows and using crows to hide shuriken in them. Despite his extensive use of genjutsu, Itachi was also very skilled in hand to hand combat.

Itachi possessed the Mangekyo Sharingan, which increased his already great power.With his left eye, he could use Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu that traps an opponent's mind in an illusionary world for time, which seems like 72 hours in a matter of seconds.In this world Itachi is a God and it is such intensive illusion that may even kill opponent. With his right eye he could use Amaterasu, a ninjutsu which create a black undying flames that he could direct by moving his eye to burn through anything in its path, including fire itself. His final technique was Susanoo, a technique that summon spiritual being around Itachi. It carried the Totsuka Sword, legendary ethereal sword with the ability to seal anything it pierces and Yata's Mirror, a shield that can reflect any attack back at enemy.With this Itachi was practicly invincible.

Itachi's basic appearance was very much like the rest of his clan.He possessed dark grey eyes, and also had long black hair that hung near his cheeks to frame his face. In the back of his hair he also had a long ponytail. Itachi's most characteristic were the intensity of his eyes and the long pronounced wrinkles under his eyes.

As a member of Akatsuki, he wore the traditional Akatsuki cloak, somethimes with hat .Like all members of Akatsuki, he wore the forehead protector of his home village, with a cut through a symbol, to symbolize his broken ties with the village.On the right ring finger he wore a ring with 朱 sign (shu,which mean red/scarlet).Around the neck he wore a necklace.
