How to Keep that great Haircolor!

tired of putting so much money into your haircolor?? Well, I can help. As a licensed Cosmetologist I'm going to give you the trick of the trade haircare tips that are going to extend your haircolor!

First off, scolding hot water is a BIG NO NO when it comes to shampooing! Cool water is chemically treated hairs best friend. : ) Especially for all of you color treated redheads out there such as myself, cool water preserves red hair. Why cool water you ask? Well, hot water opens the hairs cuticle allowing the color to "bleed" or "shed". While cool water "locks" the hairs cuticle preserving haircolor, Note: this isn't just for redheads, this rule goes for all haircolors. Just like when washing your face, hot water opens your pores allowing the oil and ick to be washed off your face, then before drying your face be sure to splash with cold water to close your pores so your skin has a better chance of staying clearer.

Next: SHAMPOO FOR COLORED HAIR IS CRUCIAL! Its not just a way for the companies to make money, it is a big deal to shampoo your hair with shampoo for color treated hair. "what's the difference between a regular shampoo and shampoo for color treated hair?" there are shampoos out there for all kinds of hair right? well thats for a reason. If you were to use a clarifying shampoo on colored treated hair, you can say hello to color fading faster than you thought, shampoo for color treated hair is made with gentle cleansers so it can help preserve your haircolor.

Finally: Natural elements are DEVASTATING to color treated hair, sun, wind, and pollutants in the air, stress out color treated hair and can cause fading, I know its completely impossible to avoid these elements but here are some tips to help fight it. First off you can wear a hat or put your hood up : P. Anyway, there are products available that work as a "shield" to protect your hair from harmful rays and the wind. 'Cristophe Protect and Shine Spray' works awesome. I spray it on my hair everyday after styling, not only does it protect your hair from sun, wind, and pollutants, it smells great and adds shine.

If you swim like a fish and spend most of your summer in a pool make sure to do extra conditioning, and baby your hair. chlorine is damaging to hair.

Are these tips going to completely prevent your hair? NO. ALL HAIR

COLOR FADES, but these simple tips PROLONG your haircolor.
