National Healthcare, why?
66Healthcare Justice!
This is probably a touchy subject and there are good points coming from all around the political spectrum so why can't our government put together something that is beneficial to all without breaking down our current system.
Based on most of the polls taken, the American people are against this health-care bill (whatever it is as they have yet to define it) but since we do not know and we definitely do not trust our government, I believe they are going to ram it down our throats no matter what the political consequences. I have heard several republican senators interviewed and when asked if President Obama has sought their advise, the answer has always been no. Don't get me wrong, I have yet to hear a republican put a comprehensive plan on the table but ideas are floating around that could be worth while. Why do we need to dismantle the best health-care system in the world? Across the world, socialized medicine does not work and people seek medical care in the USA everyday since their socialized medicine is like a death sentence to them. Maybe I am exaggerating a little, but personally I know of a few people who seriously believe that and envy our our system.
Supposedly with all the great minds in our country and all the talent we employ, we can't seem to get it right. Is the Washington crowd so arrogant and power hungry that they don't see what this will do to our nation; is it purposely being manipulated to destroy this great nation and make it into some socialized third world country; is the hatred so deep or is the stupidity equally as deep? Either way you look at it, why are these people in Washington? Are we, as Americans so disconnected that we keep voting them into power (regardless of political affiliation as there is plenty of morons on both sides of the isles) and keep repeating our mistakes?
It seems one way or another we will get a health-care bill, we just don't know what it will look like. Hopefully we will get a chance to see it before it is voted on and be able agree or disagree but giving us a chance to voice our opinions. Are they so afraid on what is going to be in there that so far they have refused to show the public? That in itself should send off warning shots to the American people. I hope we are given the time to view it before we end up taking a bitter pill and I hope the American voters remember in 2010 and 2012 what is happening today.
As a small business owner and knowing what I know today about the bills floating around, it will hurt me, it may force me to go towards a public option because it would be cost prohibitive to keep the private insurance and if not, do I even stay in business or call it quits? I do not know what the end product will be, but considering the manner this congress and the administration is handling it, I am down right scared of where this is heading and what ramifications it will bring to the American people and the economy. I have learned to usually trust my instincts in my day to day dealings and it has served me well in the past; my instincts are scaring me to death this time and I don't like it one bit.
This bill won't be effective until 2013, very convenient as the presidential elections will be in 2012 and no effect would be visable at this time, otherwise Washington would be in panic mode and I think most Americans would vote them out of office. But some Democrats are willing to sacrifice some of their own in the 2010 election just to ram this health-care bill through.
We the people still have some powers left, I suggest we use them and show this government what true power is, POWER of the People voting them out of office, if they don't hear our voices.
Agree or disagree, your voice is an important one so use it NOW before they ram this bill through.

Thanks, your point makes plenty of sense. These common sense ideas,do they exist in Washington or is it drained once you move there? By the way, enjoyed reading your hubs, great work. Have you thought about changing your profession to politician? We need even minded thinkers up there. :o)
I think Americans concern about healthy. And the people support the government give big support for healthy care.social security needs of people. including health care.
Thanks for stopping by. Some reform has to take place but a balance must be reached that is good for the people and the country. Probably easier said than done but we have to try.
Hi, I was born in England and have lived here all my life, and the one good thing about it is the fact that we have the National Health, which is brilliant. Rich or poor it makes no difference, if you are ill or injured you get taken to hospital, no filling in forms no health insurance it is all completely equal. Sometimes things go wrong like anywhere in the world, and somebody sues the Health service for getting the treatment wrong, but that can happen anywhere. our taxes for the National Health are automatically taken out from our pay wages, or if we don't work, then it is taken from the Social Security (welfare Payments).I have had treatment for a kidney op, thyroid problems and numerous other things when I was little, and there is no way my parents would have been able to afford the insurance. We never even think about the cost, if you are ill or injured you just call the ambulance and they take you too hospital and you get the best care. maybe America would be better off following this idea? it has worked for us since the 1940's. interesting hub. thanks Nell
Hi Nell, thanks for your comments. I appreciate your personal experience. I am very happy that you have had great experience with your healthcare. I agree that there is good and bad in everything and I have heard horror stories as well and that delays in getting certain medical procedures can cause you your life. Regardless, our system can be improved but most of us are very happy with it and we wouldn't mind some tweaks to it. AND passing this bill at what cost? Our Nation is broke already and there are other ways to make it more competitive, yet our own politicians won't put their money where their mouth is by accepting their own bill as their insurance but yet they don't mind forcing it upon us. They should fall into the same pool as we do. I am sure some of your system is good and some of ours is good, I wish we could somehow combine the best of the best and make one excellent system but it can't be done so rapidly. This is to important to ram it through. Thanks so much for stopping by,it is a sincere pleasure to read your comments.

Great hub.My personal feeling, hold off doing a major overhaul of our system. If the government says we have massive amounts of waste and fraud in medicare, then fix it. Prove to everyone that you can pull this off without hurting everyone, before you throw out the baby with the bath water.
