THE SOUTHEAST
While these lists are no all inclusive, they represent major nations, bands and independent groups among Native Americans in the Southestern States.
As Native Americans moved eastward from the North and the West Coast to fill the continent, they met Europeans that eventually drove them back, many of them onto reservations in the West.
There are a number of state-recognized groups and other groups in the process of attaining either state or federal recognition in addition to those presented below.

Have you read Piers Anthony's "Tatham Mound"? It is a FANTASTIC source of information about Southeastern Tribes at the time of the arrival of the white man.
I also suggest that a tour of Mountville, AL. It's a great an informative restored pre-Columbian Muskogee Indian site.
