Before and After Treatment

Battle with Acne

An individual afflicted with acne fights an ongoing battle with their skin.

Between the pimples and blackheads, anyone who has never had to deal with this condition can't possibly understand the shame and embarrassment. The constant awareness of the blemishes and the quest to cover them from view.

I was cursed with adult acne that left permanent scarring from damaging chemicals during professional treatment.

So What Causes Acne?

Common acne, or (acne vulgaris), is an inflammatory condition of the sebaceous glands in the skin, generally on the face, neck and back. It consists of red, elevated areas that may develop into pustules. Bacterial infection also plays a role in this condition.

As your face is out there for every human being to view and critique, there is no way to completely cover the redness and blotches.

And then there is the morning routine with the cleansers and medicated treatments. While others can just get up and go, you have to make sure you have done your best to hide your terrible problem.

Have you ever freaked out because you were accidentally splashed with water and fear that your cover up will melt? What about swimming? Is there any hope to attain normal skin?

Here Are Some Acne Skin Care Tips:

When using acne treatments, be sure they are used properly and in the correct order.

Choose cleansers such as soap made from Echinacea and other herbal ingredients. Tea tree oil has known antibiotic properties and serves as a mild anesthetic to soothe irritated skin.

When cleansing skin, do not to scrub with a washcloth. Acne is not caused by dirt clogging the pores, and scrubbing the skin will aggravate the condition. Use a gentle skin cleanser, lukewarm water, and a gentle motion with your fingertips while performing your primary acne skin care regime.

Moisturizers will keep skin from becoming dry due to the acne treatments. Even oily skin can become irritated during treatment. Choose a moisturizer that is oil free, won't clog pores and contains a sun-screen.

Never remove acne pimples by squeezing or digging, as you run the risk of infection or scarring.

For male acne sufferers, be cautious when shaving, and use a moisturizing shaving gel.

Women should choose cosmetics that are oil-free and non-comodogenic.
Proper acne skin care is a necessary addition in your fight with acne and in achieving clear skin.

WARNING!!!

If any treatment, cleanser, astringent, cream, etc., is causing you excessive pain or discomfort:

DISCONTINUE IT IMMEDIATELY!!

Take this from someone who has experienced this type of pain. Listen to your body. PAIN is a warning that something is wrong. The cure is not intended to be worse than the condition. Choose products that decrease your symptoms not add to them. There is no need to end up with unnecessary scarring.
