Natural Foods Do Promote Good Health
54Your natural state is one of wellness
When it comes to eating "right" the basics are a great foundation toward the realignment of you and your inner health. You have heard it all before: eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and drink lots of water. All sound advice.
To take the concept further only complicates the matter. It is so easy to get caught up in the flurry of new diets and fads that inundate us daily. The point is when we stick to the basics the body will find harmony. When we eat a simple diet of natural foods i.e. foods that are not processed, irradiated, modified or hydrogenated the body and mind will align in a way that is in accord with your ideal weight.
Imagine our ancestors and how they lived. Go back in your mind to the times when we gathered and hunted daily for our food. Imagine the long walks and relative fitness that was common to our group. All because we had to search for our food. Now move to the times when we began to plant our own food. Naturally we moved less in search of a good meal. However farming is not without hard work. And while farming we burn many calories doing the work to bring dinner to the table.
Now onto modern times. The idea of farming our food is all but gone for a huge percentage of us. And gathering consists of parking our car as close as we can to the front doors of the local supermarket. Hunting...might as well forget about it as it is open to so few people nowadays.
But all this convenience should be working on our side. We have collectively agreed upon a system that can allow us to excell in ways we never could when we were hunters and gatherers. In this system if we rest on our laurels we can so easily slip into laziness and choose the absolute easiest foods to heat and serve. If we give thanks to the hands and systems that bring food to us it will be easier to take a small part each day and honor ourselves by preparing simple meals rather than "popping" some frozen block into the microwave.
Eating a natural and simple diet will speed up your metabolism by allowing the colon to go unclogged by processed, bleached and enriched man made products. The digestion should be unfettered by such clogging agents such as gluten, artificial colors etc. A natural diet will contain a healthy dose of fat that is natural and helps your brain and body thrive. A natural diet will be whole and not fractionated meaning all the constituent parts of the fruit or vegetable will be present. This wholeness is what allows the body to successfully assimilate the various vitamins and minerals present in your food. When vitamins are removed and isolated the body cannot absorb them as quickly or use them as effectively as it does when you eat whole foods.
Eating a natural diet is easy if you follow some simple rules. Eat fresh. Eat seasonally i.e. foods that are grown locally following the change of seasons. Eat simply like a caveman would. Would a caveman have eaten a meal from a box? Maybe but it wouldn't be good or natural. When you go to the grocery store imagine you are a hunter and gatherer. Using your intuition gather the items that are the freshest and natural.
Truly you have all the knowledge you need to eat a healthy diet. Shy away from all the fads, and processed foods and go with your gut...your gut will be happier if you do.
