Natural hair restoration has been around for a long time and has become the holy grail of combating hair loss. Some people claim that hair loss is a relatively new phenomenon brought about by our stressful, chemical filled lives. In reality almost every civilization studied has a remedy for hair loss. Whether they work or not is another matter. The Egyptians, for example, used a mixture of cow manure and herbs as a hair regrowth tonic. Apparently the pharaohs suffered from the humiliation of hair loss also.

There are a lot of natural remedies that are pro ported to help regrow hair. The best thing to do is to search out different methods and try them for yourself. According to the people who promote some of these therapies they work for some sufferers and not others.

Saw Palmetto Extract has been known for years to be effective on male prostrate problems.  Interesting enough, one of the most used drugs used as a hair restoration product was also originally developed as a treatment for enlarged male prostrate.  Finasteride, marketed as Propecia, was clinically proven to help shrink the prostrate in men.  No one thought this would work as a effective hair restoration treatment.  It hadn't even crossed anyones mind as far as I can tell.

But during the clinical trials an interesting thing happened.  A large precentage of the men who were taking the drug to shrink their prostrate also were experiencing hair loss due to male pattern baldness.  While in the trial a majority of these men actually saw hair growth were there hadn't been any for years.  This lead researchers to study the effects on baldness and they found a direct correlation between the use of finasteride and regrowth of hair.

There have not been studies done directly with Saw Palmetto Extract but considering it is also used to treat male prostrate problems it may be worth a try.

Male pattern baldness is generally caused by a build up of the hormone DHT which attaches to the hair follicles cutting off blood supply.  Any product that can deal with the DHT levels in the body may help to reduce this hair loss.  Nettle Root Extract has been used in Europe for years as a way to inhibit the bonding of DHT to men's prostrate and recently hair follicles.  This is another interesting tie in between a hair restoration treatment and male prostrate problems.

Cleansing and detoxification of the body should always be a part of your regime to combat hair loss. Many diseases associated with hair loss are the direct result of toxemia. Toxins in the body can adversely affect systems required for healthy functioning. Cleansing can be done regularly by using oral methods to purge the body of toxic material. If colonic irrigation is used it should only be a chosen method rarely. Excessive enemas can result in serious health effects.
