Alternative remedies can be more appropriate

For many disorders and illnesses, it is in my opinion that it is often more appropriate to start with a "natural remedy".  Natural remedies generally work with the body and don't have the serious side effects that many pharmaceuticals do.  I have used a few myself and they have both been far more effective than the drug alternatives not to mention a heck of alot cheaper.

The onesI have had  actual experience wiht are  home remedies.  If you have not heard about the miracle of the potatoe, let me tell you that I used the inside of the skins of an Idaho potato to clear up a boil within hours.  I was on a 10 antibiotic treatment that wasn't reducing the boil after 7 days.  My daughter actually shared that one with me.  It's also great for those painful pimples.  No it is not FDA approved nor is it very likely to be because of the huge cost involved with FDA trials.

The other remedy I have used is tart cherry juice concentrate.  It relieves the pain of my arthritis and keeps my hands from cramping as long as I drink an ounce a day.

Actually I just remembered that I have also used Goji juice (which is really expensive) when I worked a seven day a week job temporarily.  Not only did it improve my energy and stamina, it also seemed to improve my outlook.  I became a chirpy morning person when I am general a morning grouch.

Also as a young child I my hands were covered with warts.  My mother used to put a penny in a bowl of red wine vinegar and rub my warts once or twice a day with the penny (pennies back then were made with copper so this may not work with the new pennies).  After awhile, (I don't remember how long since I was only 5 back then) the tissue became soft and split open  and bled but not for very long.  The warts were completely gone and I have absolutely no scars either.  You talk about cheap, a penny and a little red wine vinegar.

As we are learning more and more about food, nutrition and illness, we realize that many of the "old wives tales" had a great deal of valdity.  Just because ancient civilizations didn't have our technology, doesn't mean that didn't know anything.  Just look at the mysteries of the Egyptian culture, the pyramids and the embalming.  Unfortunately as civilizations rose and fell the wealth of knowledge they discovered became lost so we have often taken one step forward and two steps back when it comes to our understanding of healing the human mind and body.

Thanks for your kind comment Syuryadi. Unfortunately, here in the US we have what is known as generic prescriptions which are often very cheap and effective. However, they do not work with the body to heal itself and also sometimes have very serious side effects.

Lemon essential oil

I will be writing about various oils in different capsules and grouping them, but for now I want to write a little bit about the variety of tasks lemon essential oil does.

It is good for acne and oily skin and hair, it keep most bugs out of the room. It is also a great stain remover (I have removed coffee and chocolate from clothing). It also is a room freshner and has a smell most people appreciate. It adds negative ions to the air we breath and is a great disinfectant. Disinfectant means it has some antimicrobial properties. Lastly it can be good for helping you lose weight.
