Natural Reader Review - Why I think I'm qualified to give a review

I purchased Natural Reader on September 25, 2008.as I have a defect in my eyes (Central Serous Retinopathy) that increases the amount of eye strain when using a computer to read text.

I feel I'm qualified to give a Natural Reader Review as I use this text-to-speech software on a daily basis in the course of my work and leisure pursuits.

Natural Reader Review - What Exactly Is Natural Reader - and What Can It Do ?

A Brief Overview of Natural Reader Text-to-Speech Software

Natural Reader is a straightforward, simple-to-use software program that you can download onto your computer. It works to save your time and to save your eyes from computer eye strain.

Natural Reader reads out loud all the text on your computer - so you don't have to - using real human voices.

You can chose from a comprehensive list of English voices with both US and British accents. There are also a number of languages available - including Spanish, German and French. All have both male and female reading voices.

Natural Reader has several toolbars that make text reading easy. The toolbars are installed in MS Word - Internet Explorer - Outlook - Outlook Express - Power Point and Firefox. A general toolbar allows all text from documents - e-Books - reports - PDF files etc. to be read to you, with just a couple of clicks.

Natural Reader also has an audio converter. This lets you turn your computer text into MP3 (or WAV or OGG) files so you can listen to your emails, reports, research documents or any computer text while you walk the dog - stroll in the park or in the car while driving to the office or your next meeting.

This low-cost and simple-to-use software frees up your time and saves your eyes from staring at the glowing oblong computer screen that can be so damaging. And it talks to you in natural human voices.

Natural Reader Review : Does Natural Reader Work Well ?

I have been using Natural Reader software to turn the text on my computer into natural spoken voices since September 2008.

During this time - I have used this helpful reading tool almost every day. It's not until you try using it that you realize just how much it takes the pressure away and gives you back loads of useful time.

The voices are amazing and there are a good number of speed settings. This means you can have them speaking your computer text at a normal pace or really slow - if you want to study or learn something while giving it some careful thought.

Alternatively - if you want to speed-read or revise something you've already listened to - you can get your chosen voice to canter along like an auctioneer after 5 cups of strong coffee.

I like the way you can switch between male and female voices. I find that some things sound better in a female voice while others suit a male voice. This is a great feature in my opinion.

Incidently - I tried a number of free text to voice readers and they all sound clanky and robotic. Also - they generally don't come with all the adjustments and usability features you get with Natural Readers. I wouldn't care to listen to the free robot readers for any length of time.

My advice - don't waste your time with the free ones. You will have to uninstall the free voice to then install the Natrural Reader voices. Although 'free' always sounds attractive - I would say; don't waste your time with them especially as Natural Reader with its superior voices and functionality costs so little to own.

Does Natural Reader have any hidden benefits ?

The obvious benefits are saving your eyes - freeing up your time - and getting you out of the office. However, one use I discovered is using Natural Reader to read back my own writing to discover those typos and blunders that just make me look sloppy.

For example:

You may want to ask a question - but instead make a statement in error.

  • Are you crazy ?
  • You are crazy !

Or - you miss off a letter which your spellchecker is happy with - but you won't be.

  • Rates are going up.
  • Rats are going up.

This tool has rescued me countless times from sending out work that was supposed to be correct in every way - but wasn't.

Getting Natural Reader to read your writing back to you is an excellent way to see if the whole piece of writing "sounds" right and hangs together well.

Natural Reader Review - Is this the best Text-toSpeech software on the market ?

To be honest I haven't tried them all.

However - I have used Natural Reader consistently since September 2008 and have found it really easy to use. I also found the natural human voices were excellent to listen to - and I can use this tool for hours without any problem.

All the other products I researched had clanky robotic voices so Natural Reader easily won for me. Also - it was a very low-cost investment in my opinion.

Is Natural Reader good value - or is it just a cheap swindle ?

I rate this product highly. If you are concerned about about your eye strain - or the amount of time you spend reading stuff on your computer screen - or would like to have all your reading matter read to you while you are out and about - buy this product now.

Natural Reader is often running discounted prices so you may find they are running a special offer. Even at it's full price, I would not hesitate to recommend this genuinely useful product.

If you follow the link at the bottom of this page you can visit the Natural Reader website where you can test out the voices. There's a box on their page where you can type in your own text and choose a voice to read it back to you.

Alternatively - if you want to research more about this product - why not read my full report on Natural Reader by following the link further up this page (right under the pink box).
