Chronic fatigue syndrome is a complex illness that affects the brain and many bodily functions; it causes you to feel so tired that you can't perform normal, daily activities. CFS may come upon you gradually or quite suddenly. Chronic fatigue syndrome has no apparent cause, and no proven cure.

Symptoms (can vary from person to person):

  • Persistent, debilitating fatigue
  • Sleep that doesn't lead to feeling refreshed
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Muscle and joint aches without swelling
  • Intense or changing patterns of headaches
  • Sore throat
  • Swollen lymph glands in the neck or armpits
  • Dry eyes and mouth
  • Impaired circulation in the hands and feet
  • Visual disturbances
  • Painful menstrual periods

Causes:

  • Nutrient deficiency
  • Prolonged stress, viral infection, toxins, allergies, immune system disorders, and psychological problems.
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension). Researchers have noted that many CFS patients have low-salt diets, which may explain their hypotension and fatigue. These individuals may need a higher salt intake to raise their blood pressure.
  • Hormonal imbalance. Some studies have found that people with chronic fatigue syndrome have lower levels of the hormone cortisol. Lowered level of cortisol may promote inflammation and activate immune cells.
  • Thyroid disorders may also cause chronic fatigue syndrome.

Natural Treatment:

  • Apple cider vinegar contains important nutrient that help boost energy.
  • Ginkgo biloba stimulates circulation, particularly in the brain. Because of the increase circulation and oxygenation of the brain cells, produced by the extract from ginkgo leaves, this plant has given excellent results for combating fatigue.
  • Omega-3 fatty acid helps increased the burning of fat that causes different ailments. Omega-3 is also important for a brighter mood and sharper memory.
  • Ginseng is an herb that has been used in Asia for centuries to increase energy and combat fatigue.
  • Carnitine is found in nearly all body cells, it is responsible for transporting long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, the energy-producing centers of cells. It allows these fatty acids to be converted into energy.
  • Coenzyme Q10 (Co Q10) is a compound found naturally in the mitochondria, the energy-producing center of our cells. Co Q10 is involved in the production of ATP, the main energy source of body cells.
  • Supplements of vitamins A, B12, and C, iron, and zinc. But a balanced diet is preferable to taking supplements.

Recommended Food:

  • Pasta, rice, and whole-grain cereals and breads for complex carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy of the body. A lack of energy is the most common complaint of low-carbohydrates dieters.
  • Lean meat, fish, poultry, and other high protein foods to help build and maintain muscle tissue.
  • Fruits and vegetables for vitamin C.
  • Salty foods (if low blood pressure is part of the diagnosis).

Cut down on: Caffeinated drinks should be used in moderation to minimize sleep. Alcohol, which lowers immunity, should also be avoided.

I don't have chronic fatigue, but I still like to take Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin C, Omega 3, and Ginkgo Biloba.
