A sore throat makes water feel like a handful of tacks. It makes Jell-O feel like sandpaper...
A sore throat is nature's way of reminding you to get back on track...as for going out to dinner, forget about it!
Natural fast action cures from personal experiences:
Keep your throat moist... you need lots of lubrication. Slippery elm lozenges coat your throat and reduce painful friction.
Gargle every few hours for relief... with a warm saltwater solution to reduce painful swelling. Salt is good for killing germs, just add half a teaspoon of salt to a warm cup of water, tip your head back and gargle.
Take zinc every 2 to 3 hours for soothing effects within a day...because the trace mineral zinc heads straight to the sore spot in your throat!
Take asprin to fight imflammation fast... or if you've a sensative stomach, use ibuprofen - a nonprescription drug that's effective as a pain reliever and inflammation fighter. Follow the directions...

Hi Gayle, how are you doing, thanks for your valued feedback, I appreciate you.
Tip: You can add 1tsp of salt to hot water, cover towel over your head and inhale steam...helps breathing by cleaning and draining sinus, plus get's rid of bugs, etc!
Personally I wouldn't gargle toothpaste because of the fluoride and many other harsh chemicals.
There's nothing I loathe more than a sore throat.
Never heard of a sore throat being the bodies way of communicating to get back on track? I find that even more interesting!!!
All of our aches, pains, excessive emotions and illnesses are communication from our body that somthing isnt right. I would like to suggest a book called "Soul Mind Body Medicine" by Dr Zhi Gang Sha.
I wish you health and happiness always!

I have heard gargling with salt water (or tooth paste) is good for a sore throat, eating garlic and horseradish, and taking zinc suppliments.
I have never heard about a sore throat reminding me to get back on track. That was interesting.
