So what are the best natural dietary supplements for weight loss, and where can you find them at reasonable prices? This guide will give you the what, why, where and how... only you can provide the who.
Where to Start
If you haven't already, make sure you are taking a good multivitamin and mineral supplement daily. You make think you don't need to, but especially when you're dieting, you may not be getting all of the basics your body requires to function. B Vitamins
A good b-complex supplement is essential. While all of the b-vitamins aid in metabolism and energy, a few of them serve special purposes vital to weight loss.
B2 (Riboflavin)
- Aids in normal thyroid function
- Regulates metabolism
B3 (Niacin)
- Aids in normal thyroid function
- Component of the Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF), released after a rise in blood sugar
- Helps fuel cells, which then burn more energy
B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
- Aids in adrenal function
- Facilitates energy production
- Increases capacity to burn fat
B6 (Pyridoxine)
- Aids in normal thyroid function
- Regulates metabolism
- With zinc, produces enzymes to digest food more efficiently

Essential Minerals
It is important to complement your vitamin regime with minerals. They work closely together to provide optimum results in the efficient functioning (and therefore fat-burning) of your body. Several minerals in particular have been found to increase dieters' results, when taken in conjunction with a multivitamin and b-complex supplement.
Zinc
- With B6, produces enzymes to digest food more efficiently
- Regulates appetite
- Curbs cravings by heightening taste
- Necessary for proper hormone function
Chromium
- Required for metabolism of sugar
- Controls fat and cholesterol levels in blood
- Makes insulin more effective in regulating blood sugar
Manganese
- Aids in healthy thyroid function
- Regulates fat metabolism and blood-glucose

Other Supplements
There are many other dietary supplements out there that claim to help you achieve your weight-loss goals. Only a very few have science to back them up. Each body will respond differently based on the internal chemistry of the individual, but the following recommendations are those that have been found to do the most good for the most people.
Co-Enzyme Q10
- Needed for energy production
- Study participants doubled weight loss when taking it
Alpha-Lipoic Acid
- More efficiently transports nutrients to muscle cells
- Moderates blood sugar levels
- Powerful antioxidant
Acetyl L-Carnitine
- Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides
- Increases fat burning and energy levels
- Promotes circulation and liver health
EGCG (Green Tea)
- Increases fat oxidization
- Boosts metabolism and fat-burning
- Reduces blood glucose, lipids, and cholesterol
Remember...
Whatever supplements you choose, make sure you read the instructions carefully, and take only as directed, with plenty of water.
The most common mistake people make is to think that, because they are taking supplements, they no longer need to eat healthily. Don't make that mistake. These supplements will only work for you when added to a healthy nutrition and exercise program.
With all that said, happy losing!
Compliment These Supplements With Healthy Eating
- What Does a Healthy Diet Look Like?
So many nutritionists spend so much time telling us what not to eat and how terrible crash diets are, we are left wondering just what we ought to be eating. We all know what a balanced diet isn't. So what does a healthy diet really look like? - How to Fit More Fiber Into Your Diet
Fiber - a dietary component most often associated with the relief of constipation. But what is fiber, really? What other health benefits does a high-fiber diet provide? What makes it so good for you? - Low Fat Cooking Tips and Baking Substitutions
You've heard of substituting one ingredient for another, but how do you know what works, or how much to use? I've laid out below the substitutions I've found tried and true in my own kitchen that won't alter the texture or flavor noticeably, complete

Rodney: I'd say it comes down to personal preference. Just as Powerbar came out with a gel for athletes, it was inevitable that someone put vitamins into gel form. There have been liquid supplements for those who cannot swallow pills for some time.
The upshot: your products are too expensive for the average person to take on any kind of consistant basis ($75 for a 30-day supply of just ONE supplement), and also based on a network marketing scheme, which in my experience, never works out well. But to each his own. I wish you all the best with your business and your health! -Maddie
Thank you for the info. Yes I've taken the liquid form, not the best tasting and still inconvient. Yes you did talk about price but would you like a bently or a honda. You pay for quailty with Agel products you observe 95% of the products. So you pay for what you get.
Through suspension gel technology, our daily nutrients can be taken anywhere, quickly and easily. Think about it: no glasses, no super-sized pills, no waterlogged juices, no ineffective sprays and creams—just pure, concentrated nutrients in an easy to take, readily absorbed, taste bud-busting gel. Entirely original, the Gelceutical market represents an untapped arena of wellness. And the landmark realization of the industry is Agel™. Agel stands at the head of a supplement revolution—incredible convenience, incredible flavor.
Why is gel technology so much better? Two very important factors influence the efficacy of nutritional supplements: 1) the proper timing of ingestion, and 2) the bioavailability of the nutrients. Because of these factors, gel technology represents a significant advance in the method of delivery for vitamins, minerals and other important food supplements. Gel suspension drastically facilitates ingestion of food supplements, increasing compliance with nutritional regimens that would otherwise go unheeded. It provides extreme convenience and allows for optimal timing of ingestion, thus maximizing nutritional efficacy. And, it optimizes the bioavailability of the nutrients that are suspended in gel form in order to maximize their physiologic effects.
You used Bentleys and Hondas as a metaphor for your product verses vitamins. Actually, I think that's a very accurate comparison. Hondas are extremely reliable cars with excellent fuel efficiency and safety ratings, just without the flash and razzle-dazzle of the Bentley legacy. I know some people are willing to pay for the "cool" factor, but when it comes to my health, I just want to get the job done... and WELL.
I was wondering if you have ever heard of Usana, and if you have, if you have done any research on the quality, pricing and whether or not the company is truly not a pyramid scheme. I am currently taking the products as a system of weight loss. I am successful thus far. Do you know anything I don't??
I am 52 yrs old and am having an awful time deciding what to buy at a healthfood store to help me lose this belly fat that is so repulsive on me..I can't seem to lose it!!! What can you recommend that actually WORKS>? I do stretching exercises and try to walk as much as I am able..I have always had trouble with my feet ..bunions... so...sometimes it's not so easy to go for long walks. What sort of fitness can I do at home...??? Do you know of a diet plan that will help me lose this tummy fat?? any help... please...
Thank you very much, I can tell that you really are into the subject. Also, as many others you have help me understand that there are no magic solutions. I had never have problems with weight, but my sister had them all her life. Still now. I will recomend her this site. :)
Excellent sensible advice.
Thanks for the information - a well-rounded resource for the vitamins you need.
I was wondering if you have ever researched or used any vitamins by Shakley. I recently ordered the multi strip and could use the info. if you have any?
I can’t seem to find the right diet that works for me.
more resistance tryaining, the higher your muslcle mass tthe higher you BMR (Basal Metobolic Rate) will be. which means the amount of calories ant rest rate. so for instance, for instnace, my BMR is around 1600, so if i just lay in bed all day, i'd butn that my many calrious!!
hope this help :-)
I agree with you on the benefits of vitamins, and i love the way you break down your website into simple to read categories and define the basics. The only problem for me is: I HATE swallowing pills. Got any reccomendations?
