Eco-Friendly Diapers - The Gift Expectant Mothers and Mother Earth Can't Do Without
57In today's world of technological dominance, it's easy to forget that the place we live in is still organic, with its own set of checks and balances. Everybody wants things bigger, better and faster, and if it's unnecessary, you should be able to put it in the "Recycle Bin" on your desktop, right? Unfortunately, when it comes to baby diapers, the "disposable" solution is not as obvious as it may seem at first.
Marketers are cunning in that they will prey on people's need for "quick" "simple" solutions. The average newborn baby goes through 8-12 diapers a day, and by the time the baby is potty trained, will have gone through 7,000-9,000 diapers! Just imagine if your baby goes through 20 diapers a day. Yikes! What mother wouldn't welcome an easy solution for the miniature landfill newborns are capable of creating? Enter "disposable" diapers.
There are over 4 million births in the United States every year. That's roughly 8 new babies per SECOND. This results in more than 18 BILLION disposable diapers hitting landfills every year from the US alone, and it takes around 500 years for a single diaper to decompose. Shouldn't there be a way to care for our children without worrying about environmental consequences for the next 50 decades? Enter environmentally friendly diapers.
Gdiapers. Seventh Generation. NatureBabyCare diapers. These are just a few of the pioneers paving the way for a cleaner planet and happier mommies. These diapers share a few characteristics guaranteed to please mothers everywhere:
- No harsh chemicals - traditional disposable diapers contain chemicals, like chlorine, that help them reach their "super-abosrbent" status
- Little or no plastic - these days, as much as 30% of a disposable diaper is made of plastic that doesn't biodegrade, which leads to the landfill life of 500 years
- Fragrance free - a baby's skin is one of the softest, most sensitive things on the planet, and the extra dyes and perfumes other companies add to their diapers cause problems for many babies
All these things mean that babies wearing these types of diapers experience fewer instances of diaper rash and other skin related issues. Fewer trips to the doctor means Mom is happy, and everybody knows, if Mom is happy, everybody is happy!
As a mother and practictioner of yoga, I feel passionate about bringing a balance to my body, life and the world around me. These diapers are one step closer to acheiving these goals. Of course, even if these diapers didn't provide any environmental benefits, the truth is, they are simply better for your baby, and mine. So, if you're looking for a great gift for that soon to be mommy, environmentally friendly diapers are the way to go!

Great hub and I hope people take your advice and think of out planet, we only have one earth and the amount of disposable diapers that go into landfill everyday is a disgrace. We love our babies, yet we are poluting the world they have to live in. It just doesn't make sense. Well done on such a great hub
