According to Hindu Vedic Astrology, the unfavorable position of Planets in the Horoscope is responsible for all the hardships and struggles faced by us despite of the hard work and efforts we put in to improve our lives. The placement of the nine planets in the Horoscope points out the karmic influence on the behavior of the individual. Astrologists and Numerologists use this information to suggest remedial measures for appeasing the ill effects of Planets like wearing gemstones or rudrakshas, chanting mantras related to the planet etc.
Research has proved mantra's as a powerful tool for healing. Mantra chanting or even listening to it creates positive vibrations and removes negativity. Navagraha Mantra is the mantra of the 9 planets. In other words,Navagraha Mantra (Navgraha Mantra or Nava graha mantra) is used to please the planets and influence them positively. Ved Vyas has written mantra's to please the nine planets or navagraha including the Sun, Moon, Rahu and Ketu in actuality are not planets according to the modern astronomy. You could chant the mantras based on days if you are unsure of which mantra to be chanted as i have mentioned in the Hub. Surya mantra on Sunday, Chandra mantra on Monday, Mangal Mantra on Tuesday, Buddha mantra on Wednesday, Brihaspathi mantra on Thursday,Shukra Mantra on Friday and Shani mantra on Saturday.

how one decide which planet is of less power in his horoscope
HI anamika you are doing gr8 job, please tell on which day one to chant rahu and ketu mantrans, you specified each graha for each day (starting from monday to sunday) but didnt mention when to chant rahu and ketu.

Hi Anamika! Thank you for creating this hub....If I may ask,
1) What is the English transaltion of these Mantras?
2) If it is difficult for one to chant the mantras in English, is it the same if one just reads the English meaning of it in the morning worship and then prays for forgiveness for not being able to have devotion when reading the Sankrit version? (I feel more devotion when I read the English meaning because I understand the meaning)!
3) I know nothing about my horoscope, except that I am pisces and DOB is 3/3/84 (around 9:30 or 9 am), don't know what is 'dosha' and I am a devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba,,,,If I chant this whole mantra every morning, will it help remove all obstacles in life? (without knowing which planet is weak and which is not etc) If not, is there any other mantra which helps remove all obstacles without getting into the details?
I know that I may have sounded a bit ignorant with asking those questions, but I am ignorant devotee of the lord, so ye!

dear anamika, most of the astrologers ask to complete one perticular mantra in 40 days for some fixed number. Eg . Shukra mantra to complete 6000 in 40 days . Now calculating it per day , it comes 150 times in a day to chant but they also emphasis on the number/count on 108 so how can we achieve this mantra chanting 108 times per day in 40 days duration.
You are right. In this case you can chant in multiples of 108 as it is easy to keep note of how many times the mantra is chanted using the 108 bead rosary. Thanks for the visit.
Dear Anamika, thank you very much for your response but if one wants to complete shukra mantra for say 16000 times in 40 days then as you said he/she can chant 108 per day probably in morning but what if one wants to do the same japa in the afternoon or evening to achieve this 16K target. Is it auspicious to do shukra japa in afternoon /evening? Can u pls tell us the good times in a day to chant mantra? Can I chant 108 before 9am once then at 1 pm in afternoon 108 and again at sunset 108 times?
I said try chanting in multiples of 108 depending on the number. As a remedy one should chant the Shukra beeja mantra 'Om dram dreem droum sah shukraya namah' or the mantra 'Aum Aim Aim Gam Grahesvara Shukraya Namah' 20000 times in 40 days. The chanting should be done on Friday avoiding the Rahu Kala wearing white clothes and facing the south-east direction. Usage of Shukra Yantra while chanting is recommended. You can divide the mantras into 4000 each and 5 fridays. The first hour after sunrise on the day of the mantra diety is the most auspicious time to chant mantras. But i recall reading somewhere that the 8th, 15th and 22nd hours are beneficial too. I am not sure of this but if you ask me i would say what matters is the sincerity, faith and devotion with which one chants the mantra. I hope this helped.

My son is 2 yrs old , his dob is 9th dec 2007,4.38PM some astrologer has told his chandrama is weak. so, i want to start chandra mantra for him daily but i do not know how many days i should take to chant since in internet its written to be chanted 11000 times but how many days i dont know and how many times daily.Is there a specific time, should i chant it daily or only on mondays? Astrologer has not told anything about mantra.

As a student of astrology and as successful practitioner,I wish to add one more point here. Inspite of our careful moves, and precautions, difficulties occur in life.For that, Navagraha manthra has to be chanted and poojas have to be performed. But that should be done depending on the dasha and bhukthi of that person at that perticular period, studying his horoscope.Otherwise, simply chanting of manthras all time is of less use.Thanks
