Nearfield - Portuguese Electro Music Band
58The first time my friend Trimecks requested me to make a review of one of his divulgement projects I must admit I was a bit reticent about it. But now that I know more about their results and it has become a credible project, I believe it is time to let people know more about this electronic dance music band - Nearfield.
Nearfield history
Nearfield project began almost 15 years ago while composing music for fashion catwalks and its development has always been connected with the fashion world. It all started by the hand of Alexx Name who is the Nearfield mentor, architect and fashion photographer. But it was only after he met Sylvie (singer, fashion model and actress) when she first come to live in Portugal that things started to roll.
Why Nearfield?
The name of the band - Nearfield - was inspired by a concept from Yamaha: the natural sound speakers placed at work in the environs of the producer`s audibility field.

How they made it through
As any other Portuguese alternative dance music band, Nearfield (or Nears as they also call them selves) has struggled to keep their head above the water. It is not easy to find all the resources needed to maintain such a project growing steadily without the backup from a major discographic company. Thanks to Sellaband.com they managed to display their work to lots of music lovers (believers) around the world and that made it possible for them to launch their first real CD.
When they joined Sellaband this site was still very recent so they could never be sure that their success was going to happen. Now, after two years on that site, Nearfield achived what was their aim - the $50.000 needed to go ahead with their new album named NEAR U.

I am not by any means a dance music expert but I like to hear music and to dance so...
I still remember those times when every band were defined within a single genre (I must be getting old) but today that is almost impossible with so many different genres out there. Like many others, Nearfield it is situated on several genres with different expressive music styles: indie rock, dance, soul, electronic (electro), neo-soul, and this are just the ones they told us.
After going through their play lists I find their music pretty unique. All their musics are different from each other but at the same time they all share something that allow us to recognize some similitudes.
I would love if you leave your opinion on the comment box below. Have fun!
