I know at one time or another someone has come up to you or maybe you have done it yourself and either got a neck massage or gave one yourself. Neck massages are very relaxing and most times you can feel as pressure is being released. Neck massages release the pressure of those muscles being tightened and constricted. Neck massages and shoulder massages are a great way to end the day and get ready for the next with an energized outlook.

Neck Massage first step

First off make sure the person receiving the neck massage is comfortable, either sitting down or laying down. This massage is intended to relieve stress so the person has to be comfortable. Laying down would be the best position to get the massage. If you want to surprise the individual then sitting down would be fine to start giving the neck massage.

Relax the muscles

You will start by gently and slowly rubbing the side of the arms, making circular motions and working your way up towards the shoulders, and then up to the neck where you will rub the back of the neck always remembering to do it in a gentle way. This will relax the muscles and provide flexibility for the remainder of the massage. Work your way down now again making circular motions towards the shoulder blades, and again this is to relax the muscles. Next make a relaxed fist and press with your knuckles on the shoulders and in the back. Make circular motions when you do this, and repeat this for about 30 seconds.



Focus on the neck massage now

Then you can loosen up the muscles again by holding the back of the head in one hand and moving it toward a shoulder just a bit. Repeat this on both sides.

Once the muscles are relaxed now you are ready to focus on the neck so you can give one of the best neck massages given in a long time. Now you will gently grab the head with both your hands and gently and slowly move it side to side. Next with two or three fingers and using the tips of the fingers you will rub the nape of the neck. Next you will place the head in your hands with the fingers at the bottom of the skull and gently pull the head up and down, repeat this for about 10 to 20 seconds. Make sure it is comfortable and you do not overextend the neck. Do it very gently so you do not pull any muscles. Next hold the head with your hands and move towards each shoulder, again very gently, repeat this on both sides and repeat this several times.

Neck massages can be very beneficial to relax the muscles and release the stress from everyday life.
