Need Ideas on gifts to a 12 year old girl...

Young girls of twelve years old today seem to be much more grown up than the twelve year olds 50 years ago. I have a niece of 12 years old and she has already started to blossom into a 'little young woman'. She is starting already to experiment with a little make-up. She is very into her clothes and knows what she likes to wear and what she doesn't want to wear. She likes perfurme and she has even asked me how to make her nails look nicer.

So it's really quite simple. A gift for a 12 year old girl should be something related with fashion and beauty.

I am sure she would love her first bottle of eau de toilette. A purple coloured nail varnish. A mascara or a gloss lipstick. A nice pair of jeans. A slinky top that maybe showed one of her shoulders because they are starting to feel a bit sexy! A pair of ear-rings with some zircons. A silver ring also with a zircon as Paris Hilton is quite an influence on them. A filofax where they can jot down all their thoughts and their appointments for sleep overs with friends. A ticket to a concert of her favourite group. A CD of Hannah Montana or any other of her favourite groups. Her first pair of white framed sunglasses. A white mobile phone or maybe even fuscia. And last but not least a poster of her favourite singer.

Her first beauty facial might be fun for her and maybe a session where they taught her how to apply discreet make-up.  She might also like a gift voucher in which to get her ears pierced (or nowadays maybe another part of her body!!!).

A camera would be great and maybe get her started in the field of photography where she might be gifted.

And as a last resort an envelope with some money inside for her to be able to buy whatever she fancied would go down a treat I am sure as I have already been told by an eleven year old (just about to turn twelve) that that is what she would most like!!!

Perhaps a Mary Kay or Avon representative could come and talk to her about skin care and make-up, and then a package suggested by the agent could be put together as a gift. I was very greatful to some tips and practical advice given to me at fourteen by such an agent.

I'm sorry but I forgot about the tom boy phase and I was one myself when I was young. I shall try and post a new article with the things that a twelve year old tom boy might want, maybe something more on the lines of a camping tent, lessons in judo or a a tree hut so that you can climb up to it - but without any ladder!!! I'm only joking but I think it's great to be a tom boy and just enjoy this phase for as long as you can because although you don't know it yet tom boys usually end up by being the most feminine of women because they can relate very well to men having done the same things as them when they were young. Can you believe it!

I'm a 11 year old girl who is turning 12 in one week. I would like to have a party with my friends. But as a present I'd want some money and then be able to go on a shopping spree. That would be a pretty awesome gift for a 12 year old who likes shopping or buying stuff for herself.

I think that's a very good idea and I'm going to add it to my suggestions. You more than anyone else knows exactly what you would like as a present!

Have a very happy birthday!
