Taking Time Off?

With today’s economy, vacations are usually the last thing on anyone’s “to do” list. I take that back; they are probably high on everyone’s “want to do” list, but like the Rolling Stones say, “You can’t always get what you want”.

Taking time off from the everyday rat race is important not only to your physical well being but your mental and emotional as well. They are good for your mind, body and soul. Vacations give you a chance to regroup so that when you return to your job after a relaxing few days away, you’re ready to get back to work and take on the world! Well, maybe not really wanting to “get back to work” per say, but you do feel better!

Finding Great Deals

If you’ve been saving your pennies and you’re ready for that ultimate vacation, plan a trip where you don’t have to do anything but show up. The perfect getaway in that case would be a cruise. Pack your bags, climb on board and do nothing but soak up the sun and eat! Is that the perfect vacation or what? Right now you can find some great deals on cruises going just about everywhere from weekend cruises to 10-14 day cruises. They’re a great family vacation because there’s something for everyone!

Another idea keeping with the ocean theme is to charter a boat (or yacht) depending on how many couples you get to go, how long, how much money you want to spend, that sort of thing. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a few days than relaxing on board your own private yacht with friends and family. Cool ocean breezes and even colder beer! For a trip like this all you need is a bathing suit and your boat shoes.

Take a Hike!

If you need a vacation but can’t afford to take a week off work, then grab your family and escape for a long weekend. Camping is a fun and inexpensive way to get away for a few days. Head to a lake near you and pitch a tent. Rent a pontoon boat and enjoy the lake while you’re there. Kids especially love to sleep under the stars and roast marshmallows over the campfire. If you’re not one for camping, then rent a cabin. Every state park has cabins or houses to rent along the lake so that you still get the outdoor feel, but the indoor plumbing! Don’t forget your hiking boots!

Another idea for a vacation if you feel you need to get away, but really can’t take time off work is to rent a room at a nearby upscale hotel for a night (or two). A swanky hotel can easily make you feel like you’re on vacation! Take a day to lay out by the pool, order room service or relax in the hot tub.

Just Relax

The most important part of any vacation is to relax. Isn’t that what a vacation is for? Don’t plan something everyday where you have to stick to a schedule. Throw the schedules out the window, put your watch in a drawer and just relax!
