Have you ever found a pill on the floor or somewhere else and wondered what it was? Or do you have old pill bottles and you're not so sure what the medicine is for anymore? I've had it happen to me and I did some searching around to find a site that would solve this problem.

One happened to stand out better than any other site I've come across. Have you ever heard of rxlist.com? Keep reading to see what all you can do with RxList and how it could possibly solve a problem for you.

RxList.com

If you want to figure out what those mystery pills are, then the best thing to do is to check out the advanced search feature. You can search by:

  • The Brand Name
  • Keywords
  • Imprint Code
  • NDC Code
  • Patient Drug Information

Or you can just browse all the generic and brand name drugs they have in their system.

If you have the bottle I'm sure you could just search by brand name and easily figure out what they are and what they do. If that doesn't work you can look for the NDC Code which is an eleven digit number broken up into three parts. (NDC just means the National Drug Code) And if that doesn't work then just type in keywords from the bottle you have or any paperwork that's with it.

If you just have one random pill or pills, you can search by the imprint code to find out what they are. Just type it any numbers or words that are imprinted onto the pill. This is actually very accurate; I've tried it before myself.

Once you search for a pill, it'll show you a list of all the possible medicines it could be. It'll give you the brand name, generic name, type of drug it is and so on. If you select a certain medicine it'll break it down even further for you. It'll show you:

  • An in depth Description
  • Clinical Pharmacology
  • Indications and Dosage
  • Side Effects and Drug Interactions
  • Warnings and Precautions
  • Overdosage and Contraindications
  • Patient Information

And if that's not enough, which I don't see how it couldn't be, you can search the Patient Drug Information and get even more information, like Q&A's.

I hope you can get some good use out of this site and possibly figure out what those random pills are that you have laying around. Let me know if there are any better sites out there for this.
