What about if you have no health insurance at all and you avoid going to the doctor unless you are really sick? Those kinds of bills can be very damaging to your finances.

Or if you're in an accident and you have more medical and hospital bills than your auto insurance covers?

Here in America everything is negotiable. You can haggle for hours with a used car salesman over the cost of a car. You can negotiate with a contractor for getting the kitchen remodeled.

So why do you think you cannot negotiate with the hospitals and doctors offices with your medical bills?

I just finished negotiating with a hospital over my daughter's surgery. They were demanding payment in 10 days for an amount that I could not afford. And then she kept asking well can you pay it to two payments? NO! Can you pay it in 3 payments? NO!

I told her I could only pay 1/10th of the payment each month. She took a few minutes and said they would agree to do that. So I didn't get my balance reduced but I also did not get my credit dinged for medical bills and I got 10 months to pay off something they wanted all paid off in 10 days.

This bill was for only a few hundred dollars. You may have several thousand dollars you need to make arrangements on. What you may want to do is seek the help of a debt negotiation company. They can work with your creditors and work out a good payment plan that you can afford.

They can also work on reducing your total balance owed. If you have no insurance the doctor is going to charge you more than if you had insurance. This is when a debt negotiation company can help you. To me it doesn't make sense why someone without insurance should be charged more for the same services than people with insurance. To me that is not fair.

If you need help negotiating your debts, call and talk to your doctors office or hospital or medical clininc. Explain your financial situation and see if they can help you. Do not avoid the problem. By avoiding it you can risk lowering your credit score.

If you need even more help, enlist the services of a debt negotiation company. They can work with you to reduce your medical bills, hospital bills, and credit card bills.
