Initially when netbooks were released they were really exciting gadgets to hold on , to look at , and to imagine owning when you were in a train travelling to your native on a holiday , browsing net lazily perhaps to impress a few wannable geeks who were unfortunate enough to be your co travellers .

Promises

Netbooks looked very promising in the begining , infact so much so that I almost thought of seriously considering it as an alternative to a full blown laptop ! Price was very low , It had the basic requirements for ...well browsing and watching movies , I mean basic videos atleast , Like some short 300 Mb movies MKV formats . I did had a good collections of those thanks to free video converters .

To begin with they all looked almost the same to me , Only differing in perhaps the colour and keyboard size and perhaps nothing much else for considerable notice . All of them had an atom processor , Had about 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM , 160 GB hard disk

The cheapest one was MSI wind , The one I bought , The most expensive of them all was Sony Viao ! it costed almost thrice the price of MSI wind basically offering the same performance and speed ! Man SONY SUCKS big time , they re just a pack of shit considering that they are trying to fool you into buying such bare basic machine ! I mean apple got attitude ! and yes style , Sony tries very hard to emulate apples style , fails miserably .

Mind you with such configuration I was not expecting not much performance . Yet The MSI wind , even failed my miniscule expectations , It came with preinstalled windows XP . XP is designed for desktop , not for netbooks

This means , Booting up and shutting down leaves you a lot to be desired , and about installing other applications simply forget it . Its just your IE and other urgent office applications . Even it could nt manage three or for spreadsheets opened simultaneously !

Not at the same time , Each at individual allocated dedicated time so be patient . I have heard that NVidia is going to come out with ion processor platform , But at what price ! that is the biggest question . If the price is too high , it is still better that you consider buying a proper laptop from dell ! they come at much more reasonable price for the configuration they offer !

The verdict - Dont buy netbook , Wait atleast for a couple of months ! till they introduce something better with more decent configuration !
