Negativity Sells

Negativity appears to sell. Why is that? I'm asking all you positive people out there to prove that it ain't necessarily so. What negativity am I referring to? If you care to read what all the kafuffle is about, the article I'm referring to was Eric Graudins challenge to those of us at Renegade University. See link at the end of this article.

Tempest in a Teapot!

What a tempest in a teapot! The thing that really gets me and what Lisa Bryan put into words is: "The stupid thing is that his hub went from an 84 to a 92 while our genuinely helpful hubs are languishing in the high 70's and the rare occasionally low to mid 80's, at best. If anyone wanted to see the power of negative promotion, here it is." Rather than react to Eric's article I decided to read his bio and I'm glad I did. I emailed him and he replied. He is well intentioned. What cheeses me off is that by being negative he attracted such a large audience.

IRENE SAID:

Eric, I happen to be one of the technically terrified. And your hub terrified me! LOL. I was a frustrated network marketer who thought they had an online business only to finally have the penny drop and realize that ordering my products online and having them delivered to my door does not constitute an online business.

Network Marketing Online Solution

I was looking for ways to take my business online when I found Ann Sieg. She offered so much value that I was drowning in information. Then along came Mike Klingler, gentle, patient Mike. I felt like he had thrown me a life preserver! Reading your bio, it could have been you instead. Your bio is in complete contrast to your hub. If you were to overcome your negativity you would be a wonderful addition to Renegade University! We are thirsty for knowledge and we want to do it right. Rather than suffer from analysis paralysis Mike gets us into action. The learning curve I have been on these past few months makes my head hurt most of the time but I'm having a blast. Reading your article is enough to scare people into never writing another article! Undoing all of Mike's patient effort. I'm not at the "don't take it personally stage" yet so your article upset me. We are just learning to walk here. I was conscious about not promoting my company or my products as that would be perceived as spamming.

Promoting Renegade University

By promoting the university I thought I was providing a service to people like me that were floundering. It's something that I know about and something that I am very excited about. I have had several offline cold contacts get very excited about what I'm doing online and they are now checking out the free university before they decide if they want to upgrade to the Renegade Professional for $1 for one week.

Free Value Offered First

I was blown away by the amount of value provided in the university. Upgrading was a no brainer for me; I have paid far more for a monthly book/CD program which for the most part was inspirational and motivational CDs to get me to pick up the 100lb phone to call yet another friend or relative or worse go mall crawling. You should be thanking Mike for getting us off the street! LOL

Old School Methods Not Working

Most of us passionately believe in the network marketing industry but were not happy with the old school methods of building our business. It is a breath of fresh air to actually have people come to us by clicking on a link in one of our articles. There is no pressure; they click of their own volition. They choose to read the article or not. I would suggest that if you are not open to new information that you should definitely not click.

The Mind is Like a Parachute

They say the mind is like a parachute; it works really well when it's open. If you are open, I would encourage you to get in contact with me or Mike or any one of us from Renegade University and come and see what we are about. You can email at Irene.paradigmshift@gmail.com rather than click on one of those dreaded Renegade University capture pages. To reiterate I think you have a lot to offer us fledglings if your bio is the real you vs. the negative hub guy. (Sorry, I didn't realize I had been so long winded!)

ERIC SAID:

Hello Irene, I'm sorry that my hub on Renegade University Spammers has caused you some distress. That was not my intention. My hub was aimed directly at those who spam hubpages with RU material. Perhaps I did not define my target accurately enough. I have attempted to address this issue at the top of the hub, and used one of your hubs as an example of a hub page that meets the Hub Pages requirements. If you'd prefer that I remove this link, please let me know. Regards, Eric G.

IRENE SAID:

Hello Eric, I'm pleased to have you use me as an example of doing something right!

I'm sure most RU hubbers intentions are good but we are all RU babies just tottering along. Mike has the utmost patience and he does try his best to herd all his chicks with constant reminders so this was a good wake up call. We are on the World Wide Web. I'm glad I read your bio; I got the feeling that your bark was worse than your bite. If it wasn't for Mike encouraging us to just get some content up there and optimize it later I would have remained in 'analysis paralysis'. See my ezine article on this topic: http://ezinearticles.com/?Renegade-University-is-The-Solution-to-Analysis-Paralysis&id=1078474

ERIC SAID:

I don't bite small business people. But I sure as hell bark to try and alert them to the reality of various situations. If some people see this as "being negative", so be it. For over 10 years I have been associated with small businesses that use the internet. Some of the advice they have been given is appalling, resulting in the loss of many thousands of dollars, and/or countless hours of time. My hubs generally address some of these issues, and give advice so that sound decisions can be made. There's hundreds of ways that the internet can be used to gain an income. I'm glad you've focused on one of them, and are learning some skills that are valuable to you. In the months to come, I'm sure you'll gain further insights and realize exactly why RU and Ann Sieg operate the way they do. I'd recommend Robert Cialdini's book "Influence" as a worthwhile read for anyone involved in marketing, and also for anyone who has a pulse. Regards, Eric Graudins.

Network Marketing Vastly Misunderstood

Although Mr. Graudins may be an expert on internet marketing he appears to have little knowledge of network marketing. I think that on the whole the network marketing business is vastly misunderstood. It has a tarnished reputation, probably with good reason but that doesn't mean that the concept isn't sound.

Ann Sieg and Mike Klingler

I was somewhat confused by his comment, "In the months to come, I'm sure you'll gain further insights and realize exactly why RU and Ann Sieg operate the way they do." If anyone can shed light on what he means hear I would be happy to hear from you. Please email me at irene.paradigmshift@gmail.com. Personally I like the way Ann Sieg and RU operate. I was on webinar with Ann Sieg last night. She specified her goals: "My goal is to change the industry average where only 2-3people are responsible for 80% of the business growth."

Being directly sponsored by Ann Sieg (and no this is not my primary MLM company) and having had her call me directly and spend an hour talking to and welcoming me to the team I can vouch that she is a real person with good intentions. Online, offline, what you see is what you get with Ann; someone that has gone down the road ahead of us and is saving us months if not years of frustration and disappointment.

To quote J. Paul Getty "I'd rather have 1% of the effort of 100 men than 100% of my own effort." If Bill Gates helped 100 people to be millionaires, would they really care if he was a billionaire? I think not. Both Ann Sieg and Mike Klingler have put in countless hours and have exhibited tremendous patience because of their vision. "A rising tide lifts all boats."

A Way All Network Marketing Reps Can Work Together

What I really love is they are in no way connected. They both represent different network marketing companies. Mike simply read her book and overnight stopped teaching his downline the old tactics and started teaching attraction marketing with almost immediate success. Not only did he have success, but those in his downline that could barely send email began to get leads show up in their inbox. This is a way for ALL network marketers to work together! There is a paradigm shift happening here. See my horse/frog picture at the end of this article. If you can't see it , go to my blog for the animated version: http://www.internetworkmarketercoach.com/

Thomas Friedman's book The World is Flat

As Thomas Friedman said in his great book The World is Flat: p.191 What's happening now is just the tip of the iceberg... what is really necessary is for everybody to wake up to the fact that there is a fundamental shift that is happening in the way people are going to do business...It's not about ruling anybody....it's about how you can create a great opportunity for yourself...it's about being a player...the world is a football field now and you've got to be...on the team which plays on that field. p.197 The perspective and predispositions that you carry around in your head are very important in shaping what you see and what you don't see. That explains why a lot of people missed the triple convergence. Their heads were completely somewhere else-even though it was happening right before their eyes." I would suggest that Eric Graudins head is completely somewhere else.

Thomas Friedman is a New York Times columnist. In 2002 he won his third Pulitzer Prize for his clarity of vision. This was virtually unprecedented recognition by journalists underlines his unique ability to interpret the world. Friedman gives voice to America's awakening sense of a radically new world and our own complex place in it.

Multiple Streams of Income Available

We that have joined ranks with Ann Sieg and Mike Klingler have recognized that even though this is the time for the individual it is also in our best interests to be on a team. As a player I give a big thumbs up to my coaches Ann Sieg and Mike Klingler. When you get the ‘big picture' why would anyone represent one MLM when there are multiple streams of income available? Why not learn to brand yourself? Instead of being seen as a peddler of products and feeling like they are thinking: "Oh no, here she comes again."; when you can offer valuable information and reach an audience that does indeed want to hear from you.

Affiliate Marketing + Network Marketing + Internet Marketing

There is a marriage happening here. The convergence of affiliate marketing, network marketing, and internet marketing which I affectionately call ANI (Annie). We all need to become very good friends with ANI! For those positive people out there and I know you are many, typically the silent majority I would ask you to assist me in getting this hub ranked in the 90s . Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.

Irene, you are such a good person and you have written a great hub! This is about changing the old ways - and I'm not talking about marketing - I'm talking about people giving and learning and relating to one another in positive ways. In spite of myself, I still get a stomachache when I think of that other hub - it was needlessly hurtful when it could have been helpful. I don't care about veiled references to "the real reasons" behind what our mentors do - Mike has been nothing in my life but a positive both as a teacher and a role model and we all know how I feel about teachers - earth angels.

What I'd love to see is hubbers who have nothing to do with RU respond in support of the hub community and helping one another learn and improve! I hope it happens - I know there are a lot of fantastic people here.

Wow, you did an excellent of conveying what we as RU members are all about! Thanks for the time you took to answer Eric's negative comments. As I'm continuing through the marketing tutorials and seeing what great step-by-step help we're getting from Mike, I can't help but think that the people who criticize us, as well as Ann and Mike, are the ones who truly don't know the principles or the purpose of this program.

Hi Irene,

I'm glad you wrote this Hub.  It shows that there are those of us in Renegade University who are not motivated simply by financial gain.  We are trying to improve an industry that carries a lot of promise, but falls short when it comes to the average person achieving success.

I just submitted a new Hub as well, and it was also inspired by this ongoing debate.  I'd love to get your feedback on it.  Let's start earning a more positive reputation for Renegade University!

Wow - you already found my Hub before I posted it here. Thanks for the nod!

Irene,

Thank you for taking the initiative here. I know that my hub was not meant to advertise my business but to share useful information. I have been so wowed by what Ann and Mike have to offer that I just want to let MLMers know that there is a light out here and they don't have to go through the tunnel. This is my first hub (not for long) and I am not perfect. I am learning as I go along.

Thanks again,

Aviva
