I will admit it does help to have a solid product or service that everyone wants or needs. I will also admit that it helps to have a company backed by sound leadership with a focus on the end consumer. It even helps when the compensation plan rewards people for hard work, dedication and a willingness to train others. But what I don't see today, from some of the top Network Marketing companies, is a step by step MLM Training system that teaches basic marketing principles to create results.
You Sign Up 10 New Distributors This Month, Now What?
I remember, years ago, asking this very question to my Network Marketing Up-Line, and you know what the answer was? "Go out and find 10 more!" So what did I do? I went out and found 10 more and signed them up. Sounds exciting don't it? After the second month I had 20 people in my organization. The challenge was; what were the 20 people doing? Well, in my case, nothing! Does this picture sound familiar?

Right on Mike! I positively cringe at the mere thought of building my business the old way. I did it though; I believed in the result and if that is what you had to do then I was willing to do it. As in your case, no one in my downline was willing to to it.
As Ann Sieg pointed out, what's missing in network marketing is the marketing. Why? Because it was too expensive prior to Web 2.0. Our uplines didn't know what else to tell us to do. Renegade University provides tremendous value in all areas of social marketing.

Great work (but would we expect anything less of you).
I know from personal experience that even with a good product, comp plan, some level of training in the "old school" network marketing methods and a well-meaning upline, most of us struggle if not fail at building a business by those methods alone. Yes, there are some people that have worked those methods successfully and there are even times when some of them can be useful today (especially when coupled with attraction and relationship marketing methods). But in the long run, coupling attraction/relationship marketing with Web 2.0 portals and learning how to do so via a system like Ann/Mike have put together provides all of us with a greater set of tools and a more direct path to success.

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate that a great deal. You are so right, there have been a lot of folks who have done well with the older methods, but to me, Network Marketing can be a much bigger vehicle to more people when they realize what Attraction Marketing and building relationships can do for them and their business.
My goal is to help those folks, who have tried and failed before, or who are still struggling now, realize their potential by showing them a new way to build a business. I know you are on the same path too.

Education is a big part of your success. Find a top producer in any company and ask them TODAY what they are doing to further their education, and they WILL tell you, on the spot, a book they reading or coarse they are taking RIGHT NOW to improve themselves. Great hub Mike.

It's good to be reading your work. This article tells it how I see it too: most network marketing companies that I see don't provide solid marketing training. And more and more, it just makes sense for network marketers to get training outside of their company. As you pointed out, The Renegade by Ann Sieg is a place to start. From there, Renegade University provides attraction marketing training.
I agree with you Mike, the best way to strengthen your NM busines is to get the needed education in attraction marketing. Well done,
