Network Marketing...
I want to touch on a topic that is considered taboo by some, and I will address network marketing, what it is, and what it isn't. This from a guy who not long ago had shunned the concept. I believe it was Alvin Tofler who said, "The illiterate of the 21st Century will not be those who cannot read, it will be those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn." Well, I have relearned.
Over the past couple of years I have had the good fortune of spending some time with Marshall Thurber, Bob Proctor, Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Canfield, John Assaraf, to name a few. They are all network marketers. Marshall Thurber is brilliant and was mentored by Buckminster Fuller and Demming. I have listened to Marshall Thurber expound upon the information that most of us already know...that payroll is the biggest expense of business and business cannot afford us anymore. Many brick and mortar businesses are dying out.
I have no interest in attempting to enroll you into network marketing...I will bet that you already do it, and just don't get paid for it...
What It Is...
My opinion is that network marketing is a business plan whose time has come, for all businesses. What it is, is people sharing their story about a product or service that they like. I say that most people are network marketers because, most of us have told others about a wonderful restaurant, or a good movie, or our favorite mechanic...however, at the end of the month, that restaurant, or movie theatre, or mechanic, probably did not compensate you for sharing your recommendation.
The issue seems to arise when it comes time to ask the person to actually buy what we are talking about. That makes no sense though...do you worry if the person does not go to the restaurant, or the movie, or the mechanic...no. So, you are putting some energy on it so that you can make some money...stop doing that; just share the story and some will be attracted to your product or service and some will not. Don't worry about who buys or doesn't buy. And don't allow your relationship to be impacted either.

What It Isn't...
It isn't you calling all of your friends and asking them to buy and when you run out of friends, you are out of business. I don't care if you have 10 friends or 1000 friends, at some time you are going to need to learn how to operate your network marketing business just like any other business, by attracting new customers that you do not know. You must learn to be a business owner and you must learn marketing and business ownership skills. This is not for the weak of heart. It will take some study and some practice and you must make some mistakes...and then one day, when you have learned, you will have a profitable business that can sustain you and your family potentially for the rest of your lives.
