Network Marketing and the Economy: Action Steps to Become Self-Reliant

Wall Street Waits
September 29, 2008 at 2:28 PM EST the answer from Capital Hill was, not yet. The policy makers were not prepared to take this $700B step in fixing this astronomical problem in the financial sector.
The government continues to figure out how it can best help be a solution to a huge problem that most of us really do not understand intimately.
I've read a few articles and books on the topics that give me a layperson's overview. Reduced spending by the consumer means companies have to reduce their output. If this happens for long enough it will mean a reduction of jobs. When people become unemployed, they typically stop spending. This continues to slow down the GDP.
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 -- 9:56 PM ET I've just read in the New York Times that the US Senate is recommending that the US economy get it's $700 Billion Bailout package. We still await the results of the vote in the House of Representatives October 3, 2008. The passage of this bill is expected to ease fears. You and I both know that a lot of correction has to start taking place.
Money matters. It matters at every level and we have some sober lessons to relearn. Lessons about fiscal responsiblilty as individuals, households and every level of government. Our grandparents learned and lived these lessons in the early 1900's. It will be interesting to watch how strict our 'teacher' will be in the current economic crisis.
A Closer Look at Spending
Many people are thinking more and more about being self-reliant. People are becoming creative to earn extra income. It is a common banner on a pick-up truck in our town that reads: Man and Truck for Hire. Entrepreneurial services for moving trees, for doing yard care, for moving people. I hear people discussing making a major shift in household spending, buying only the necessities. They were preparing a food stock, getting papers in order and available along with some cash for easy access. They are certainly putting off the major purchases that are not essential.
The economic crisis may have a bandaid applied for the moment. There are many families who are looking for long term answers to their financial shortfall. They are wondering how they are going to survive the economy crisis.
Signs Everywhere
You know there are signs everywhere. People are reconsidering whether they will make that weekend trip. The investment that families depended on with their home equity is shakey with the devalued real estate market. The day to day costs of food, energy, transportation is significantly increased with the rising costs of fuel and influencing daily decisions on spending habits. This is affecting the most vulnerable, the young families, young people and the elderly who struggling on limited incomes already.
One Harris Poll shows that 96% of people are lying awake at night worrying about health or finances.
The interesting thing is that in the last 20 years as the Stock Market has fluctuated up and down, and independent of the Consumer Price Index, direct selling companies have continued to grow.
"Network marketing has proven itself..."
"...to be a viable and rewarding source of income, and the challenges could be just right for you. There have been some remarkable examples of success, and those successes have been earned through diligence, enthusiasm and the right product combined with timing."
"Think Big And Kick Ass" by Donald Trump
"I am often asked if network marketing is a pyramid scheme."
"My reply is that corporations are really pyramid schemes. A corporation has only one person at the top, generally the CEO, and everyone else below. A true network marketing business is the exact opposite of a traditional business model. The network marketing business is designed to bring you to the top not keep you at the bottom. A true network marketing business does not succeed unless it brings people to the top."
"Financial IQ by Robert Kiyosaki
Network Marketing provides Solutions
Network Marketing provides solutions in a weak economy. A good network marketing company allows you to start business with a minimum investment. This investment starts you on your way to earn a part-time or full-time income.
In an article: "WHEN RECESSION HITS THE ECONOMY, NETWORK MARKETING BOOMS" by ROD COOK in NetworkMarketing Lifestyles ezine, he states, "The entire history of the modern United States reflects this boom-and-bust cycle. Consistently, network marketing has grown during the "down" periods."
The US economy and network marketing have a long relationship. Men and women who have decided to be entrepreneurs in the homebased business industry have been a huge asset both to the domestic economy and global economy. Especially in hard times.
If you are considering your options for creating multiple streams of income for your home. Find a network marketing company that measures up to the highest standards in the industry and get started. You work for yourself, but in this industry, not by yourself when you get on the right team. You can be self-reliant.

Hi Pat,
Great article. I especially like your comment at the end, "You work for yourself, but in this industry, not by yourself when you get on the right team. You can be self-reliant."
Patricia
Awesome article Pat! Great quotes! So many people read Robert Kiyosaki and jump into real estate completely missing the part where he says to own your own business first.
It's true, Renegade Coach. A careful reading of Robert Kiyosaki about what it means to move from the employee lifestyle to business owner is a big step. Learning what it takes to be a business owner and implementing that change, takes time and coaching.
Was really well written and very informative
Thank you dominodivine for your comment

Good Evening,
The network marketing concept has proven to work time and time again though only marginal when most home business people use the "old school" methods alone. Fortunately, today there is a growing availability of other resources like Renegade Univeristy, Building on a Budget, etc. that provide anyone willing to put in the time and effort to extend marketing efforts onto the internet, especially using Web 2.0 portals.
Very nice hub,
