Less than 5% of network marketers who join a MLM generate a significant income. On top of that many people who are successful at other careers don't succeed at Network Marketing. Have you ever wondered why?

Here are some statistics that may shed some light on this picture.

-The average network marketer sponsors only 2.5 distributors.

-It only takes 30-120 days for the average network marketer to exhaust their circle of friends and family (the notable warm market).

-We'll assume it takes 1000 product users to generate an income that replaces a full time job. With a 25% recruiting rate, it would be necessary to talk to 4,000 prospects. Add to this attrition and it becomes real clear that most people cannot recruit enough people to support these numbers.

-However, about 16% of network marketers who do 'the business' will remain loyal product users. This benefits the parent company the most and is probably why things have not changed much.

Other Issues that further limit a network marketers chances for success include:

-Outdated marketing strategies including cold calling and prospecting anyone and everyone which is the equivalent of a BMW mechanic going door to door in search of new clients

-Lack of education on real marketing strategies. Most of what is taught is product and compensation plan information

-Distrust and lack of understanding of the Multi-Level Marketing model because of pyramid schemes and bad experiences around poor marketing by well-meaning friends and relatives. The Internet also has made available lots of information both good and bad, true and false. This too can discredit the industry.

-Traditional advertising methods such as classified, radio and tv ads can be very expensive especially when you are not well-trained in using them. Coupled with poor incomes and marketing to your warm market becomes the only affordable alternative.

-Your warm market may not be the market that wants or needs your product in spite of how great it is!

-Your time limitations may prohibit you from joining lots of networking groups to continually grow your prospect list.

The good news is that the Internet has levelled the playing field for network marketers who are willing to go outside their comfort zone and learn a multitude of no cost and low cost lead generation methods. In the process, you can identify your niche market where people are truly and actively seeking to buy your product.

The days of prospecting anyone and everyone are numbered. Let's face it the Internet is here to stay and is increasingly becoming a part of all our lives. Those of us who see this fact and position ourselves to learn marketing startegies on the Internet before the masses will be greatly rewarded and experience network marketing success despite the odds!
