Networking: It’s The Economy Stupid!
63Economic Crisis Creates New Marketing Opportunities
In the 1992 Presidential Campaign, Bill Clinton was the underdog to the incumbent George H. W. Bush. President Bush was considered unbeatable because of his foreign policy successes including the end of the Cold War and the routing of Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War. But Bush's approval ratings began to slip as his campaign ignored the economic recession. Clinton's campaign slogan: "It's The Economy Stupid", turned the tide and Bill Clinton became the forty-second American president.
Today, once again, it's about the economy. It's always about the economy, more importantly it's about your economy!
Interest rates rise, unemployment increases, the housing market falls, jobs are outsourced overseas, and political decisions affect our economy. There is nothing that you personally can do about it. You can not control the national economy.
MLM Strategies in Crisis
You really only need to be concerned about your own economy: That is the only economy that matters.
What you earn depends on where and for whom you work. Your job controls your economy. Would you like to know how to control your own personal economy?
Recently Dale Calvert, in one of his "MLM Minutes", commented on the current increase in gas prices. He mentioned how people are looking for gas stations that are a penny or two cheaper per gallon. He states that this is not the answer to the economic situation. The answer is - Make More Money - then the price of gas (or anything else) will be irrelevant.
Today I received an e-mail from Mike Dillard (Magnetic Sponsoring); the subject of his e-mail was why the rich hate Wal-Mart. Here are a couple of excerpts from that e-mail.
The entire company is designed around the concept of "saving money" and pinching pennies.
It's a physical monument dedicated to thoughts like....
"I only have this much money, so I need to save as much as I can."
"The economy is crashing, so I need to guard what little I have."
"I can't afford it."
"We're on a limited budget."
That kind of mindset is a disease voluntarily held by people who go through life as victims.
Wal-Mart - The High Cost of Low Price
They are subservient to their boss, to economic times, to prices, and to money itself.
Money has the power, and they are lucky to acquire and save any that comes their way.
This is what is called "Stinkin Thinking". The rich think differently.
Again from Mike's e-mail:
They (the rich) believe and accept that they have the power to change and shape their lives as they wish. Money doesn't own their lives, they own the money. They have the power.
The difference between these two mindsets can be summed up like this...
Someone with a poverty mentality says, "I can't afford it."
Someone with an abundance mentality says, "How can I afford it?"
The more you start to think like the rich, the more apparent this mindset will become to you. One day, you'll walk into Wal-Mart and you'll literally FEEL what I'm talking about.
You'll feel like you're out of place... like you've walked into a club or restaurant where you're the one person who doesn't belong.
Mike continues with.....
Whether or not you shop at Wal-Mart is not important. Everyone starts from the bottom and does whatever they have to do. Whether or not you are comfortable and happy shopping at Wal-Mart is where your personal truth is found.
Why MLM in this Economy
A. Time Freedom - Time pursuing money, with little time left for anything else. It's a trade off between attaining success and the price you and your family pay for it. Wouldn't you rather work your business around your life?
B. Financial Freedom - It does not matter how much money you make, if you have to give up your life just to get it - you are an indentured servant. You must have a financial vehicle that allows you to increase your income on demand, if not you are in financial bondage.
C. Leverage - Through strategic relationships you can create continuous income. The Internet, specifically social networking, has dramatically changed business in the last few years.
D. Lifestyle - is about living where you want and doing the things you enjoy when you want. The majority of people don't have the lifestyle they want.
E. Technology - You only need a phone and the Internet to conduct business today. Smart people harness today's technology to automate their business.
F. Pay Attention! - Home-based businesses are entitled to substantial tax deductions. The U.S. tax code offers a home business 157 legal tax deductions. If you are the average W-2 wage earner you only get 3.

There certainly is a different mindset for the rich and the poor. In fact one of my latest hubs addresses this issue.

Hm, owning my own economy... I like it :)
Glycodoc,
Fascinating hub. I like the challenging idea of creating one's own economy. I have never like the Wal-Mart mentality. Your hub makes it clear. It is a mentality of desperation driven soley on price. The idea of supporting the local community or finding the best quality buy is no longer important-It is only price. Such a mentality is dangerous.
It was an informative and thought provoking read.
