I Was Buying a Pair of Crocs

Recently I was shopping online for a new pair of Crocs. I’d picked out the pair I wanted when I remembered a segment on one of the TV morning shows about finding product discounts on a website that listed coupon codes. The interviewee said anytime you shopped online and they asked if you had a coupon code you should find the code because it is out there on one of these websites.

The deal on the Crocs was a good one - $24.99. But the shipping was going to add another $10. I decided to test the information I’d heard on TV and Googled discount code. I found several websites and clicked on www.retailmenot.com. I found a code for free shipping for Crocs, typed it in and saved $10.00 just like that.

Find Promotional Codes

Retailmenot.com rates the reliability of the coupons and codes. You can click whether or not the code worked for you. So if you search for Crocs you will get a long list of deals starting with the newest and most reliable. Each entry gives the percentage of reliability.

Www.keycode.com has an extensive list of name brands and well-known stores with their deals and coded, plus coupons and freebies. Omaha Steaks has a 66% off deal, but I am not sure I want to buy steaks that are about to reach their expiration dates. You will also find deals on computer software, cameras, and Disney World tickets to name a few.

Www.promotionalcodes.com also lists hundreds of deals, codes and coupons. It is easy to navigate, has no annoying visuals, and is a clean looking site.

Www.dealofday.com also has a fine assortment of listings, but they also have annoying flashing ads and pop-ups ads. For that reason alone I am not using it. Also, when I tried to go to the coupon for a free bottle of hand lotion the link was broken. So, that site is off my bookmark list.

Www.fatwallet.com offers coupons and discounts as well. In addition this site has forums where people can discuss and share deals. On the “Cash Back and Coupons” page we learn FatWallet.com earns commissions on purchases we make through certain Cash Back stores. And they share part of their commission with members. Many of their cash back stores are places many of us already shop, like Staples, Walmart, Sears and Dell. This site also has a “Compare Prices” page so if you are in the market for a particular produce you can click and compare prices to find the best deal.

Www.priceline.com is the deal finder for all things pretaining to travel – airline tickets, hotels, rental cars, tours and attractions, food, cruises and more. They claim to be able to save you 50% on hotels, 30% on car rentals and 40% on airline tickets.

I’ve never been much of a coupon clipper but I am becoming a believer. I will not pay full price for anything again without checking first for a deal on one of these sites. Add your comments below. Share your experience saving money using one of these or a similar one.
