New Apple iPhone 3GS

Apple just announced its new Apple iPhone 3GS which is available starting June 19, 2009.  For all of you current iPhone users, you’re probably wondering why you should even consider buying it.  For all of you people who don’t own an iPhone, be jealous!  This is one really fantastic phone.  Besides all of the features that you currently get on the regular iPhones such as easy browsing, listening to music, taking pictures, etc., you will now get much, much more.  Below are some of the key features that differentiate this new iPhone 3GS from the current iPhones.  After you read about this, you may just want to hop over to an Apple store to purchase one of these.

First off, this new iPhone is being billed as the fastest, most powerful iPhone out there on the market. I saw a demo and it is true, it is definitely faster than the current ones out there. Trust Apple when they say that this one is faster. During the demo, they showed how quickly you can launch applications, render webpages and jump in between applications. They even had someone use the current phone and competed against them to see how fast they could do everything. It was faster! They say it is up to 2 times faster. I don’t know if it is twice as fast, but it is definitely faster.

Scrolling, zooming, and panning are snappier

Next, scrolling, zooming and panning are snappier. One of the best features of the iPhone is the fact that you can easily scroll through webpages and then zoom in. You’ll notice however that sometimes, when you do this, it gets stuck or it is more difficult on some webpages. They’ve made this feature even better now so it moves faster to the place you are trying to zoom to and everything is easier to do.

Here, with instant messenger, you can now share and communicate more with your friends.  Your messages can include pictures, video, contact info, and voice messages that someone sent you .  The upgraded features are so great because it makes it even easier to share stuff with your friends through your phone.

For anyone who likes to play games on their phones, this is one of the best new improvements.  The graphics are now amazing and when you play a graphic intensive game, it is just like using a handheld gaming system.  Everything is so clear and you can see all of the intense images.  Playing any game is much better on this new phone.

Now, on this new phone, the battery life is longer.  This means that you won’t have to charge it as frequently as you do with your current phone.  Definitely a plus since you can do so much more with this phone and it won't give out on you as fast as the current ones.

This is one of the best improvements that was made to the iPhone.  Currently, when you take a picture, a lot of times, it comes out fuzzy or the light in the background is not good.  The picture is not as clear as a regular camera.  With the new phones, the camera is a much higher quality.  It is 3 mega pixels and is an auto focused camera.  You no longer have to hold it still for a few seconds after taking the picture to get a good picture (this is the case for the current phones).  Also, the cool part is that if you hold up the camera and have a picture, and then notice something else you want to focus on, then all you do is click on that item and the camera will shift the focus to the new item and also adjust the exposure and white balance automatically.  This all means that taking pictures with the new iPhone 3GS is a lot easier than before.

Now, with the iPhone, you can take higher quality video with audio and then immediately edit the video on the phone.  The editing features are really easy to use and you get better videos. 

This great new feature allows you to use your voice and tell the phone to do something.  For example, you can say something like “call Tom Jones” and the phone will find the number and call for you.  You can also say a phone number “310-292-2037” and the phone will dial it.  Finally, you can ask it to play songs, find an artist and even ask it what song it is playing – all using your voice.

For the mapping functions, there is now a built in digital compass.  This allows you to orient the map to show the direction you are facing.  Whereas before, you had to turn the phone around and around to look in the same direction as the map, you now can turn the map automatically and navigate through your route. 

These features are better now as well.  You can select a word by double tapping it and then drag to highlight other words.  Then, with another click, you can automatically cut that text out and paste it somewhere else.  You can even do this on webpages and between other applications so you can easily paste information that you want to share with your friends.  Finally, if you make a mistake, shake to undo what you did.  How cool is that?

This feature is really great for recording anything.  Have you ever wanted to make a reminder to yourself, but didn’t want to type it up?  Ever in a meeting and didn’t want to take notes?  Well, now you can just use this feature to record anything you want.  The cool thing is that you can share the recordings via email, mms or just upload it to your computer.  Now, little reminders to yourself are a lot easier with this feature.

These new features of the iPhone 3GS make it really appealing to purchase or upgrade to.  I would definitely consider it.
