New Blog for Harley Owner Stories
54My first Harley was a 1979 Sportster that I rode without any problems for about a year. I only sold it because I wanted to buy an airplane!
I couldn't get another one until many years later, 2005, and I bought a new Springer Softtail. I think the color was a beautiful Midnight Pearl. I only had it for a few months and the lesson to learn came down hard! I went into a sharp curve too fast, the wide footrest on the left started to scrub, so I decreased my lean. I guess you know what a mistake that was. Yes, I slammed into the guard rail, totaled my beautiful bike, and broke both lower bones in my right leg. I know I could have been hurt much worse, but I was more sorry about destroying a beautiful machine.
Well, that was almost three years ago, I have healed, and found a 2003 Sportster on Ebay. My 95 Tacoma had almost 200K miles, so I sold it and bought that Sportster. I ride it to work which is about 60 miles one way several days a week.
Are Harley owners unique? What makes a Harley different from all the others?
Is it the sound? Did you know that Harley Davidson tried to patent the Harley sound?
And are the rising gas prices increasing the number of Harley owners?
Tell your stories and ask your questions if you're thinking about getting a Harley.
