There has never been a better time than the present to buy a new car. With the gas crunch, people simply aren't buying. Although this might discourage some from driving, you have to admit that new car prices are lower than ever. You can get new car deals on anything from a simple economy models to a luxury car, and things don't look like they're going to change anytime soon.
That doesn't mean you should run right out and buy a new car, however. With all these new car deals, it is as important as ever to be a conscientious and careful shopper. What might look like a new car deal might actually be far below the bargaining that you can get from a different place, so you need to be wary of gimmicks. Keep in mind that there are new car dealerships out there that are selling cars for the price that auto employees normally pay. That is an incredible deal, since it is the lowest they can actually sell the car without losing money.
With deals like that going on, you don't want to take anything less. The best move is to get the best bargain you can. Of course as you may expect, some of the best new car deals are on bigger, less fuel-efficient models. For a lot of buyers this presents a conundrum. On the one hand, you can get a very nice SUV for a fairly cheap price, but on the other hand you have to deal with driving a less efficient car in a pretty bad economy for fuel. Some of these SUV dealerships, however, are offering some pretty good bargains to make up for this. Not only are they selling cars for significant discounts, but they are also throwing in discounted gas for the next half a year or so.
Depending on the amount of driving you are going to do, it can really tip the balance in your favor. The funny thing is, this climate has made it harder than ever to do new car comparisons. When it was a seller's market, you could pretty much value each car on its own merits and then decide which one was priced most competitively. With constantly shifting prices and an ever escalating price wars, it becomes a more complicated issue. What might have seemed to be great new car deals before are now average or below, whereas less competitive cars might actually seem better.
