Google released a new interface for iPhone yesterday and added some new features for Gmail in iPhone such as preloading e-mails and auto-complete feature. This will make getting e-mails in iPhone faster and easy.

Google launched a new interface for iPhones yesterday and will announce more details later today at the MacWorld. It will launch a separate operating system called “Grand Prix” specific for iPhone. One of those applications optimized will be the Gmail and will have new features such as prefetching new mails and auto-complete feature.

Gmail in iPhone will now use AJAX to make the web pages more responsive. When you use Gmail in iPhone, it will pre-load all the recent messages for you instead of reloading your browser and waiting for the response.

The other feature “auto-complete” which is very handy online, you will be able to use this one in iPhone as well. So, when you start to type the e-mail address in the contact box, Gmail will automatically enter the addresses from your contact list. So, within a few key strokes, you will be able to enter the full e-mail address.

In order to make this Gmail look the same as the functions in iPhone, the size in the “To” box will be the same as the virtual buttons in the iPhone.

You don’t have to type Google’s mobile address to access the above features. As soon as you type Google.com at iPhone, Google will recognize it automatically and optimize its site for iPhone.

You can also access Gmail if you use Google Apps with custom domains, but you have to point the iPhone to the following web address, http://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com. Replace “yourdomain.com” with your domain name.

The above features however doesn’t work with other mobiles, there is no auto-complete feature for Palm users and it doesn’t preload the new e-mails, you have to reload your mobile browser to get new e-mails.
