New Hand Baggage Rules for UK Airports
73The Dimensions Permitted for Hand Luggage
UK Hand Luggage Restrictions Relaxed
The rules regarding the carry-on of hand-luggage for flights departing UK airports have today been relaxed by the government. However there is a large element of confusion amongst UK passengers because the new rules do not apply to every single UK airport. Therefore it is being advised that passengers contact the Security of the airport from which they are flying from.
Now passengers are allowed more than one piece of hand luggage which they can carry-on to the airplane, however this rule doesn't apply to every UK airport yet.
Here is a full list of the UK Airports allowing more than one bag -
- Aberdeen
- Benbecula
- Birmingham
- Cambridge
- Cardiff
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Heathrow
- Inverness
- Islay
- Kirkwall
- London City
- Manchester
- Newcastle
- Plymouth
- Prestwick
- Southampton
- Southend
- Stansted
- Stornaway
- Sumburgh
- Wick
It would seem that instead of the new rule relaxation being welcomed, passengers are confused as to where they stand. This is something I can totally understand because all passengers want is a little consistency which is what they got when the restrictions on hand-luggage and liquids wew introduced. Yes some were inconvenienced but overall passengers understood why the restrictions were in place and accepted them because they applied to them no matter what airport or airline they used in the UK.

im travelling on 15th sep. from London to K.S.A .. & i wanted to ask you some questions
can i put my luggage on airport before 24 hours or more (because im living in Sheffield, & going to travel to London on 13th sep. we are a big family so its going to be hard for us to put all the luggage home and again after two days take it to the airport) please let me know as soon as possible. thank you
Sames things as with the biometric security checks, there is no consistent regulation. I'll probably have to get a pen and note pad and then buy a handluggage for every airport i travel from:).
