Immitation Snuff Movies

I feel this may turn into a rant rather than a blog but I'm fed up with seeing all these so called "Horror movies" that keep coming out. None of them are real horror movies,

Definition of Horror Movies: Films that strive to elicit the emotions of fear, horror and terror from viewers. Their plots frequently involve themes of death, the supernatural or mental illness. Many horror movies also include a central villan.

All that these films elicit are sickness!!! They are not horror films they are gore films!! And at the moment there seems to be a fashion for creating imitation snuff movies! Films like Hostel, Wolf Creek, The Hills Have Eyes and many, many others, all usually contain the rape, violence and as many sick and twisted ideas of torture against women (and very occasionally men) they can come up with!! And because of the amazing special effects we can come up with now, every torture scene looks so real that you could actually think they were real (if you were of that frame of mind) and those people who actually get off on real Snuff movies, don't have to go and buy them illegally all they have to do is go to the cinema and they have a wide array of films to choose from!!

I used to like Horror movies the old classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Friday 13th, The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist , Amityville Horror etc. were proper horror movies......yes they contained violence but there was never prolonged torture scenes or rape scenes showing everything in fine detail.

The last modern horror film I watched was Wolf Creek and that irritated the hell out of me on many levels but the peak of my irritation came at the end when it said it was based on a real story which was the account of the man who survived.........a man who was chained to a wall in a cave the whole bloody time who had no idea what was going on or what was happening to the 2 girls......so the writers of the film decided to create this whole fabrication of mass torture and rape.....for all we know the "villan" may have just killed them!!!.....Or, as it was stated at the end of the film, the man who "escaped" was actually arrested on suspicion of killing the 2 girls....he might have just done that....where on earth was the need to show a headless, armless and legless corpse with the "villan" bragging that that was his last girlfriend who eventually gave out on him!!!!!!!

It really irritates me that this whole genre has become the way it has, it's not as though there's enough nutters out there in the world.....why create more (or give the current ones more ideas) by showing such graphic violence!! Anyone else noticed that the violence, rape and muder rate has increased in the past few years????....and worryingly most are carried out by younger people too!!....coincidence???

And I'm quite concerned that there are writers out there who come up with these films.....does anyone actually question them or make them go through some sort of mental illness check?!!! because having thoughts as graphic as those movies is not normal practice!!!!!!!

Seriously, bring back proper horror films.....we have imaginations for god's sake...let us use them!! We'll find it much more scary!!
