New treatments for Mesothelioma
New treatments for Mesothelioma

New treatments for Mesothelioma Cancer are:

Immunotherapy, Heat therapy ,Gene therapy, and Photodynamic Therapy

Immunotherapy have been found effective in laboratory studies, Some substances that have been used in laboratory studies are interferon and interleukin-2, How Immunotherapy uses the patients own immune system to fight the mesothelioma, is by using substances found in the immune system to counteract the growth of the tumor.

Heat Therapy also known as chemo hyperthermia works in the way that it heats the chemotherapy agents before they are injected and has good results in those with malignant mesothelioma When these chemicals are heated before injection it seems to kill more of the tumor cells

New Discoveries in Gene Therapy

Although studies are still being conducted on this therapy this treatment has been effective for early stages of malignant mesothelioma and other types of tumors, How Gene therapy works is that it involves manipulating the genes involved in the tumor into a virus, (eg. common cold) then using antiviral drugs or a persons own immune system to destroy the cells.

How Photodynamic Therapy can treat Mesthelioma

Photodynamic Therapy this study has not shown improved survival but studies are still being done, this treatment.consists of injecting light sensitive molecules in the pleural space before surgery. When the surgery is done light is put directly on the molecules, thus killing the tumor cells.
