New Orleans is Safer Than Ever Before

Several years ago I lived in a small town in Utah and we all lived in a quiet community. There wasn’t usually much exciting that happened in this little town. There weren’t any commercial stores or businesses and everyone knew each other. It was a quiet, Sunday afternoon and everyone was getting ready to get together for a big graduation event. The whole community was involved. Along with this small community was a canal that fed off into ditches for watering the pastures and gardens. Then about two hours before the event the canal broke and the gallons of water came flooding down a main road in the community. The whole community redirected their energies to helping the families that had just had their homes completely flooded and wiped out. We had thousands of people filling sand bags to redirect the water from flooding additional homes. The water and power had to be shut off in the community. It was a huge mess and this important graduation all of a sudden wasn’t the focus of the community. Those that were graduating went to the graduation, but then the families came right back to join in with helping the community.
For many of us we thought that these families would want to relocate due to the canal being right there and they wouldn’t want to experience the chance of the flooding again. There was talk about tearing down the homes and many went into the homes to do all they could to help with recovering the homes. When it came down to it the families didn’t want to tear down the homes. They didn’t want to relocate. They wanted to repair their homes and they wanted to stay right where they were. They felt like they were now in some of the safer areas of the canal. The canal was reinforced and focused on to make it safer. They figured that you face some kind of element no matter where you live. This was over 20 years ago and many of those families still live in the same homes and there hasn’t been another canal breakage in that area. Their homes are in perfect condition and they still have all of their friends and family around them.
A few years back New Orleans was hit with the one of the worst catastrophes in the nation. Many big names have gotten involved and have helped New Orleans rebuild. They were flooded with a massive amount of water that destroyed the structures in New Orleans. Many have wondered why anyone would want to rebuild their homes. Many thought that New Orleans would end up being a city of the past due to the damage done. Just like my small town situation the people love New Orleans. They want to be there. They want to be with their family and friends and believe in their community and their city. They want their New Orleans homes to be standing again and want to rebuild those memories.
They also know, just like my friends did that they could end up being in a safer place, because the walls were weakened and now they have been built to be stronger and withstand any other type of catastrophe. The other nice reason to go to New Orleans and buy a New Orleans home is you know that they homes are being built brand new and are being built to withstand the storms and the other things that can come into that community. The New Orleans homes are known to be some of the stronger homes in the nation and built with wisdom and experience. From the experiences the people have had they have more wisdom than they did before in building the structure of their homes.
Why would people want to live in New Orleans? When all of the flooding and the storm hit people were wondering why people chose to live there in the first place knowing the risk that they ran. Then someone pointed out that people live on the Wasatch Front live on a major earthquake line. The people that choose to live in the Wasatch Front know that, but still choose to live there. Then there are those that live in California and ever since I was a little kid in school people talked about how California would someday be overtaken by the ocean, but people still choose to live there. It doesn’t matter where you live because everyone faces some kind of danger. You never know what will happen when you walk out your front door and those that choose to live where they live choose it because they love it. They might love it due to the weather, the community, the activities that are available to them or a job. Home becomes home if you choose to make it home.
One really fun thing about New Orleans is that it has ranked number one over any other city as the top travel location for leisure activities. It is one of America’s favorite cities. Almost everyone has heard of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It is packed with people and it goes for days. There are several American’s that love to relax and find leisure activities so why not take advantage of purchasing New Orleans homes and being a part of the leisure. If you purchase a New Orleans home you might be thinking that you have to work to take care of your house payments and can’t party all day and night long. You have to work sometimes.
The nice part is that there are jobs in New Orleans and around New Orleans. The other great thing is that many jobs these days have become more flexible to move where you move. Statistics have shown that people are more productive when they are able to take time to relax and participate in leisure activities. This can work to your benefit in being successful with your job.
There are so many pluses to purchasing New Orleans homes. You can take part in the magic of New Orleans, know that you are in a structurally safe home and that experts have focused on making New Orleans safe for future weather conditions.
