New Straight Talk Samsung R451C
78Samsung R451C
If you have been waiting for a great phone with lots of features from Straight Talk, then wait no further. The Samsung R451c is the first of the Straight Talk multimedia phones. The R451C is a CDMA color screen phone with slider keyboard. That's not all this phone offers because you also get a full functioning MP3 player for an awesome all in one device. One of the coolest things about this phone is that it has a Micro SD card slot for storing your MP3s. So you can swap low capacity SD cards for different playlists or get a 4Gb SD card to hold all of your music. Either way, this is a really neat feature that is not available on all phones. Another nice surprise is the 1.3 mega pixel camera that takes high quality images. No more grainy cell phone pics with this one! You can also share your pics with built in MMS Picture messaging and since you get 30 free megs of data with Straight Talk, you are free to share away!
Being that this is a 'basic' prepaid service, browser functionality is quite good, certainly more than adequate . Though the browser is 'basic mobile' and not full HTML, you can still access lots of things including CNN, Facebook, Twitter , MySpace, Gmail, Yahoo Mail and lots more. You can easily read and send Tweets, update your Facebook status , read updates, access your inbox and more. Unlike other basic Prepaid services that cripple browser access, Straight Talk allows full access to the internet via 1x CDMA speed. The QWERTY keyboad makes for easy navigation, URL entry and form completion.
All in all, this is a pretty cool phone that allows you to enjoy the benefits of the cheapest unlimited Straight Talk plan without having to get a dull phone. If you have been thinking about Straight Talk but didn't like the phone selection, then wait no further and start saving over 50% over your current wireless plan! Samsung R451C. Nice phone but NO WEB BROWSER. I guess it's okay if all you do is text but I like my Gmail and without a browser....it's a no go for me no matter how many minutes per month. You can only talk just so long. I prefer to get my emails and send email.
Samsung R451c does have a web browser
I got 1 and just ordered 2 more awesome phone. I'm getting everyone to switch to straight talk i'm not really into texting but the ability 2 send pictures of things you see is awesome..
The Samsung R451C has a very minimal browser that barely displays anything. Someone needs to develop a way to load Opera Mini onto it so that it's usable. Then the phone would be worth the monthly price.
Does the Samsung R451c support Skype for Skype phone calls?
We've have the phone for two weeks. Its a great phone but one thing. Is there a way to disable the camera button on the side of the phone. Almost everytime I open the keyboard I end up turning the camera on..!!
can you go on my space on this phone? and can you download ringtones from the internet?
I have had this phone for a bit now, and it's been great. You can download ringtones and wall papers. You can get on myspace and facebook and just about anywhere else too. I have had no issue logging on to any website I wanted to so far. I've also sent music from my computer to it successfully. I'm very impressed, and buying my micro SD card soon. :)
Can I use GPS on this phone?
Does the r451c offer instant messaging
can anyone tell me what web browser application is on the Samsung and all other ST phones for that matter. I can't find the answer to that question anywhere.
I've had this phone for about a week now. So far, I'm impressed for the cost, but that being said, it does lack in some areas.
Pros:
Very durable.
Excellent call quality and signal.
Camera takes good pics.
Text/Pic mail is prompt.
Web browser is relatively fast, depending on sites visited.
Ability to visit/update on facebook/myspace
Email capabilities are built in
Mapquest Mobile
Cons:
No GPS capability
Web browser is very basic-- does not display pictures.
Camera button is poorly located and turns on accidentally
According to the website, this phone DOES offer instant messaging. I, however, can't figure out where or how to get it working. I don't see it anywhere on the phone.
To Joey, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but the browser interface is exclusive to ST. When I go to phone info, under browser, it simply says 6.2.3.8.
Hope this helps.
Looking to get this phone and service for my 13 year old and 16 year old. Was looking to add them to my Verizon plan but this seems like a better way to go?
Not sure where some folks getting instant messaging from. It is not capable of it and Straight Talk does not say that it is. Had the phone for 2 weeks and quite satisfied with it for the price. Ported my # over from ATT and the 1000/1000 plan is awesome and saves me $30 bucks over the basic ATT plan which I had. Over all, awesome phone for $100. I have no problems with the browser whatsoever, I can get the basics I need while away from a PC. Can easily read news, twitter, facebook and gmail. Can also get directions from mapquest.
Question- if you are switching from a different provider and want to keep your number do you have to wait for a sim card?
is this phone compatable for the $20 a month unlimited texting please someone tell me really need to know by xmas
