Cut to the chase.. and the waist

Everyone has predictions for the economy in 2009.

A short lesson in macroeconomics reveals that what goes up, that far, must come down, this far, unless it is sustained by a continual regeneration of quality products, capitol and consumer need.

We, as a World economy have neither produced, nor consumed anything of quality in 2008.

Intellectual property is about the only thing produced in North America since Clinton. And anybody can produce that. It is of limited utility. A passing phase of ecommerce, A whim, a dalliance, a tiny speck of dust compared to the more important necessities of life like food, clothing and shelter.

When will we re-invent ourselves and become important and valid once again in the bigger spectrum of the World ?

2008 was a year of reckoning. A Year of coming to the reality of excesses. A resonating guilt enshrouds us, including my own. The economy is a bad hangover from ten years of talking with no action. 10 years of buying with no money, reaping where we didn't sow. Being paranoid of real people, who live in places most of us have never visited. Of us being experts on someone else's job we never had the nerve to apply for.

I think it's time for us to impose personal responsibility upon ourselves, to take care of our neighbor, then ourselves. To stand up and do the right thing and take in the belt a few notches.

I have made many resolutions in the years that led up to this, my finest New Years Resolutions list yet:

  1. I resolve to believe, and practice my spiritual beliefs and stop questioning what I have already decided, even when adherence to those beliefs are inconvenient, or deny me some pleasure.
  2. I resolve to provide content that will make a better place in the heart of the reader, even if I go broke doing it.
  3. I resolve to continue my fitness plan, but no longer out of vanity, but for health reasons an so that my loved ones won't lose me to heart failure or obesity.
  4. I resolve to make the time to educate myself on World events that effect my fellow man, and then to take a stand based on good information, that pro-socially supports righteousness for those I share this planet with.

Now that I have said that, I hope to inspire someone out there to join me.

Online Money Matters

Writing about others peoples money can sometimes actually teach me about my own.

As I looked at my Google Adsense account balance it occurred to me that I did better last month than I sometimes do. Quite a bit better actually. What is a girl to do when she actually starts to earn a living online? Why check her bank balance online, of course!

A couple mouse clicks, a password, and my mothers maiden name, and I was staring at the startling realization that I had given Google the wrong new account information and I am already bouncing checks at my new bank! Hm mm? So much for taking a superior, professorial stance this year on money matters!

So many people are struggling to earn money online these days. I came across a guy on Hubpages, where I very recently made my new home after long deliberation (10 seconds) who is a very prolific blogger. In fact he has been #1 on Google in 2008 search results, and written for various articles on Motorcycles and I think World peace or something. Anyway, he has some excellent advice to give. I would highly recommend him. I asked him to be a fan, and I eagerly joined his club, but alas some guys don't care if a cute girl brain-crushes on them. Wonder why?;)

How to lose weight physically, and financially

In a high-fat, have-your-cake World, I have some practical advice that is easier to dispense than to follow.

Make the changes you want to make, a lifestyle, a habit, not a one-time effort.

That's it. Nothing big here. If you want to eat right, you need to continually tell yourself 'no' to tasty, high-fat foods, and 'yes' to less-tasty, healthier foods and in smaller portions. You will fail, but the result is in the continual renewal, and application of the commitment.

Financially, be thin in 2009. Do not, I repeat, do not mortgage your home equity to buy a boat, RV, or Rolex!

Do not spend money on credit, that you cannot afford to pay off in two weeks.

Do not try to keep up with the Jones' If you haven't noticed; a foreclosure sign is parked where the Mercedes used to be !

This applies to exercise, spending, any addiction or bad habit. The same rules apply for all of human behavior.

Here's to a better us, and therefore a better World in 2009

As I wrap this morning blog and prepare for my daily shower, I leave you with this recap.

Personal responsibility and a departing of selfishness, excess, and immediate gratification coupled with a tiny-bit of discipline, World awareness and compassion, void of uneducated judgement, will make a difference in our personal lives and in the state of things around the World. That is a huge run-on sentence!

A set of giving, moral, love thy neighbor beliefs, will benefit not only ourselves but our communities.

Ignorance is no excuse for hatred, failure, unhappiness or lethargy. Make a difference by admitting our intelligence and our inherent quest for congruity and goodness.

God Bless,
