The compact prefab home has everything a homeowner needs and some. It requires zero energy, green roof, solar panels, grey water recycling system, a garden that requires no water, and has a spot to plug your hybrid for charging.

Michelle Kaufmann’s has created this self sufficient homes, an environmental friendly home owner can feel proud of. The zero energy prefab is currently on display for public in front of the San Francisco City Hall.

The home is compact with 600 square foot area but roomy enough inside with suitable placement of kitchen, laundry, living room, bed room and bath room inside the home. It has xeriscape landscaping, grey water recycling system, green roof that insulates the home in both summer and winter and solar panels to power the home.

Michelle Kauffman is known for her modern, sustainable prefab designs, and the mkLotus goes above and beyond all previous MK designs. The modular construction allows for customization and flexibility depending on customers’ needs, the sliding doors between rooms and outdoors help move from one side to the other with convenience.

They have a number of eco friendly products such as flyash concrete, FSC-certified wood, no-VOC paint, EcoResin, green roof, LED lighting system, EnergyStar appliances, photovoltaic energy system and rainwater/grey water collection center. The house is characterized by high ceilings, skylights, floor to ceiling glass and provides plenty of daylight.

The zero energy concept comes from its solar panels used, which provides enough energy to provide power for the home as well for the hybrid.

There is a digital control center, which helps to control the heat and the light inside the home from one place. It also monitors the energy use, water use and programming the TV.

Awesome house and nice hub with great pictures featured in it. Also good information about the pre fab house. Gosh just knock my big ol eco unfriendly house down and give me one of these. Hopefully there will start being some nice rebates and incentives to have one of these houses. I would lov eone!
