Buying a new laptop ? Do you know these facts ?
There are lot of guidelines to be considered while choosing a new laptop. Many people don't follow these and they end up spending more money only to find that the laptop they bought was not the ideal one for them.
We will see more about these guidelines in this hub . For making this hub as simple as possible we will just list out the important points that we will be covering in detail. These are :
- Upgradability
- Price
- Performance
- Mobility
- Applications that would be run on your laptop
- Choice of OS
Lets now see these in detail :
- Upgradability :When you purchase your laptop make sure that it is upgradable. At some point of time you should be able to upgrade your hard-disk or memory if needed. So when you are planning to buy a laptop ask whether it supports upgradation. The upgradation of ram depends on your chipset and processor. So make sure you get a one which supports upgradation.
- Price :Don't compare the price of an AMD Sempron laptop to an Intel Dual core processor laptop. The performance of the two are in the two extremes. Compare laptops only if their specifications are somewhat similar. The motherboard can usually not be upgradable so it is advisable to know your usage needs and buy a notebook with a good processor if needed in the initial stage itself.
- Performance: There are 3 kinds of Laptop according to the performance.
- Gaming/Multimedia Laptop: These will require high resolutions and good graphics. So make sure that you have a good graphics card with enough dedicated memory to run your games. In order to run these high performance games the processor should be able to handle this. And for this a very high powered processor is needed. These are the most expensive ones you can get.
- Budget Laptop: If you are looking for a low profile laptop, just to work with the daily mail checking and office applications, then this is the one for you. You can ignore Graphics card and high cost processor. A normal processor will do. No need to go for multiple code processors.
- Performance PC: These are mainly used to run high end applications that require high processor performance. They should have a high performance processor. These are also high cost machines. You can ignore graphic cards if you are working on non-graphic applications.
4. Mobility: If you are planning to be outside all the time, and take the laptop wherever you go there are some important things you have to look into.
- Battery life: The battery life will be an important factor for you and make sure you get a laptop with adequate backup battery.
- Weight: It is also a factor to seriously look into as you will be carrying it around. Get the most lighest one you can afford. The price increases as the laptop becomes lighter.

When allocating money, go for a slower processor but more RAM rather than the opposite.
