Newbies - Kick Start to Success on Hubpages
83Welcome to Hubpages
I have only been on HP for 6 months, but have learnt so much in that short period of time, which has been of great benefit to me. I believe if you have the tools to do a job, you’ll be able to do it more effectively and get good results quicker.
A lot of new Hubbers, post questions, so I thought it would be a good idea to write a simple short Guide to give people a Kick Start.
** P/s note, text in light blue are links. Double click on them.
HHelp – Never hesitate to ask for Help if you are not clear on anything and when you publish your first Hub, you can post it in Forums where people will welcome you and give you good feedback on your Hub. For help with your new Hub – post it under Extreme Hub Makeover. See an Example below:
New Hubber looking for Helpful Feedback
UUndertake Challenges – There are Hub Challenges that run in HP. E.g 30 day Challenge – where Hubbers write a Hub a day, for 30 days. You can start when you want. From experience, this increases traffic to your Hubs, increases your earnings. You also get a lot of feedback, so you can evaluate your writing. No need to panic - If you can’t complete 30 days, there is no penalty. It’s just good motivation. The most recent challenge is The November Challenge. If you do take part, when you publish your Hubs, post them here: November Hub Challenge
BBuddies or Fans. Don’t isolate yourself. Read other people’s Hubs and write comments. (remember to rate the Hub). If you like their articles or Profile, you could even fan them. They most likely will return the compliment by checking out a few of your Hubs etc . Also, Visit Forums and you’ll get to know other Hubbers through interactivity - that way more people will get to know you. Apart from Fans, you might even develop some good friendships. I have met some really lovely people in HP, who I am also in contact with outside HP.
Adsense Pay
PPay – Join Affiliates programs, particularly Google and Amazon.
AArticles – Write articles of good content. Make them interesting. Give them good titles and put in a lot of Tags. If you don’t know what to write about, visit the Ideabank – there are hundreds of ideas.
GGoogle Key word tool – Google keyword tool gives you new keyword ideas. It also helps you know how popular a word or phrase is. See example below; I typed in "drinking" and it's given me ideas on topics to write about as well as indicating how popular the word is.
Google Keyword Tool
EEnjoy it - People are more productive, when they enjoy what they are doing. Things to enjoy include:
** Reading Forums Posts. Examples:
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/24863
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/26789
** Reading and Contributing to Q & A – Examples - Question about Divorce and Living Debt Free
Ps. You can also use Q & A in preparation for a Hub. Post any question under the sun. (well, within reason)
** Interactivity (otherwise called Hubtivity)
** Learn new things, useful Tips, read, fiction stories etc If you read a Hub and really liked it , you can Bookmark it. (Bookmark is just under your Avatar)
.
SStatistics – If used wisely could help a lot. If you click on My Account at the top of your page, it will show you your Statistics (if it doesn’t, click on Statistics) All your Hubs are displayed giving you details of how many times they have been viewed and their performances over certain periods etc . This info. helps you know which Hub is doing well or if there is the need to tweak certain Hubs etc For a more detailed breakdwown - sign up with Google Analytics. (For more info on Google Analytics, refer to my Hub below - Making Money from my Hobby)
You can also view your Statistics in a graph. On your profile page, click on View Stats. A graph will appear.
There is so much more to learn and you will in good time. Meanwhile, I hope the Tips I have shared with you get you off to a very good start. Good Luck and feel free to email me any questions. Ready, steady, gooooooooooooo.....
