70Car Hire in Newcastle is essential. It is a large city in layout so you need a car to fully explore the city properly.
There are many fantastic places to explore. You have The famous Hunter Valley with it's excellent vineyards and wineries, not to mention the championship golf courses and restaurants.
You can easily drive there for a day trip as it only takes 45minutes from Newcastle. Visit is the historical town of Maitland which is on the way to the Hunter Valley which is also worth exploring. There are some great antiques that you can discover and take home as a souvenir.
Another top place to visit if you're hiring a car is to drive north up to Port Stephens. Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay in Port Stephenis are places you just can't not see if you're in the Newcastle region, as it has some of the most beautiful beaches and swimming spots in the whole of Australia.
You can reach Nelson Bay in as little as 45 minutes by car so it's great for a day trip or even half a day. If you are going for the whole day it's recommended you visit Boat Harbour and magical Boulder Bay - And the amazing sand dunes of Stockon Beach, near Anna Bay
South from Newcastle is also an option worth driving to and discovering. You have a National Park and the beautiful Catherine Hill Bay. You won't find much whiter sand then these places, the water is especially stunning set amongst the white sand and it makes the water seem even bluer.
Catherine Hill Bay and the National Park is only around 40 minutes from the Newcastle CBD so it's another great spot for the day. You could go a little further along that side of the coast and visit The Entrance and the Central Coast. It is a populated area with some great restaurants, cafes and bars. If you want to escape the crowds and explore the more secluded national parks that make you feel like a you have the place all to your self then look for Maitland Bay, Little Beach in the Budibudi National Park.
As you can see North, South and West there are magical places that are as beautiful as anywhere to drive your hire car to and are all onlyunder an hour in distance.
