One Thing Leads To Another
Hi fellow hubber! Some people have asked for my other blog sites, so I decided to give you an outline of what you can find on the web, by MarisueWrites.
Wanting to build an empire of writing, I began with a parenting website called www.partnershipinparenting.com. This site will tell the story of my parenting experiences as a foster parent, and a mother of three sons. I don't talk much about the hubby there, as I gave him his own site, mentioned further down in this hub. However, at PIP, I talk about everything that affects the family including stress, spousal relationships, single parenting, step-parenting, bad parenting, good parenting, moods, "normal" parenting, child abuse, domestic violence, grief, and all things in-between, including some cheerful stuff just in case you're in that zone.
While we were parenting those 250+ foster kids and our own 3 sons, my husband did cop things for 30 years. Those stories ended up on talesfromthebadge.com and I promise everything on there is as true as memory allows. My husband was the rare kind of policeman and investigator. The one with a heart.
Sometimes you'll run into a story about domestic violence and child abuse, he bumped into many of those. It's a huge part of police work, and our life was a blend of parenting, police experiences, and similar tales. Some stories will make you cry, and many are really funny. I could have named the site Cop Bloopers, but Lynn didn't want to appear the fool. I do hafe to live with the man. Nothing is as strange or funny as the truth, yes?
Since all those kids expected to eat, I came up with a few recipe sites such as: quickmealsforone.com, quickmealsfortwo.com and something for the man who hangs out in the backyard. Might as well put him to work and you can do that with recipes from grillingiseasy.com. I found myself needing to be out of the kitchen fast most of the time, and those recipes are on fiveingredients.com. However, variety is the spice of life for me, so I cheated and some recipes are less and some are more than five ingredients, but who's counting. Hopefully I labeled them as such.
Since I love talking about family and kids, I recently added a site called raisingyourkid.com and that site will focus on just parenting, as Partnership In Parenting has bloomed a little beyond the original focus, much like a wandering vine. In every article, I have included a "Foster Parenting Connection" just to show you how I got so smart.
Speaking of wandering vines, I have a few garden sites for the lover of bugs and blooms. Among the leaves so green are raisingsunflowers.com and butterflyattracting.com, where you will find an article or two from Bard of Ely who is also right here on Hubpages! No one knows butterflies as well as the "Butterfly Man!" Head on over to read fun information about our flying flowers, or check Bard Of Ely out on the Hub.
My mother, whom I write a lot about on hubpages, was a lover of petunias. Everywhere I have lived, since her death in 1970, I plant petunias in her honor. Since, 1977 my husband has picked up that habit, too. At petuniagarden.com you'll read all about those beautiful blooms and a bit about the birds and the bees.
A chronic insomniac, I created a site called fiftywishesnow.com. You guessed it, it's about sleep, dreams and other wishes. I'm always snooping around for angels whispering by, so tiptoe around that site and don't scare them away.
Never without an opinion, much like my parents, I had to have a place to talk about news and current events. On anamericanday.com you'll find a series called "The Morning Alert" where I voice a frequent commentary about a current event of interest, and you're right! It's in full support of President Obama plus a few critical comments about people - and I use the term loosely - like Rush Limpbaugh, or Limbaugh rather, Newt has recently made an entrance, and I am adding a few comments about the ever-increasingly looney Glenn Beck to the growing extremist list. I also have a column there called "The Economical Minute"and "The Political Moment."
When nothing I want to write about fits those categories, I have my main domain of marisuewrites.com which I hope one day to be as much a hit as Martha Stewart. Yeah, right.
I want everything about my mom's walk with blindness to be contained on a site of it's own so NoLossOfSight.com was created in her honor, though it is still under construction. One day, I'll have a coffee table version of "Living In the Land of Odd" which mainly describes a day in my life, husband included. Those two sites have been purchased and birthed, but are still in infancy. It takes awhile for some creations to grow up.
I also want to discuss a brief stint I had with a payday loan company as the manager, skam included, so you'll soon find those stories on paydaygorilla.com along with budgeting information and a bit of history about money and taxes. At least that's the plan. That site has google adsense on it, but none of my "cents" yet, as It's fairly new and time is always short with me.
Oh, I can't forget barntales.com, which has a current story about a horse named TallPal. He was an old forgotten horse on my uncle's farm, and a dear friend to an 11 year old girl, me. I'll probably throw in a few yaks about the chicken coop, for what is a farm without chicken feathers flyin' around? I loved those little cluckers, but then, I was a city girl. I hardly ever had to clean the chicken pen.
That should keep you busy, but if you need to walk your dog, do so on barkaboutyourdog.com and if you just can't wait to "yeow about your kitty," (that phrase courtesy of Sally's Trove) then pussy-foot on over to meowaboutyourcat.com and I'll buy you a coke if you bookmark these and visit them often!! I could email you a hug. I could send you a chocolate kiss, and I'll throw in a night of free babysitting. Maybe. How about breakfast? I can't spend the night unless I bring Lynn, he's kinda grouchy about that kind of stuff.
If you need more of me, and who wouldn't want that, I actually do have more sites, but those are the main blogs. I'll jump for joy if you visit www.partnershipinparenting.com as I'm really mad at Google for de-ranking the pages lately, so send your friends!! It's a great site, with good traffic, what does Google know?
Looking back, I think I've fibbed a little, I don't actually create the sites, my brother does. All the really good suggestions for the sites come from me and especially the content. Ahem. You can find him at level1diet.com where he talks about everything healthy. He's also at hubpages under the same name, level1diet.
Now, go. Click your little fingers to death. GO. Happy surfing.

Hi John!!! LOL well, the nest is empty so the lady does write. haha I do burn the midnight oil. And, once in a while, I find some I've forgotten, like creatingwatergardens.com or enjoyingherbs.com hahaahah it gets worse.
I'll try to get that payday loan experience up!! It was a nightmare job. I left a social work job that had taken a "bad" turn for me, it was a rough year. Then, I took the payday loan one out of desperation. The company I worked for stalked us. It was very strange...I've wondered if they were mafia connected!!! One never knows. Thankfully, my stay was brief. Now, I work for the Pentagon. ahahha
Hi Marisue! Many thanks for including me in your hub!
What a joyous introduction to the many gifts of Marisuewrites.
I've been a fan of yours since you were a "baby Hubber". And look what's happened in a mere 13 months. I know some of these sites of yours are in their infancy, but they are the seeds for the Marisue Living Empire.
You rock, Marisue. Keep the juice flowing.
Hi Bard of Ely, Your welcome, when I want to know anything about nature, I travel to you!! =)) Keep those great articles coming!!
Hi Sally's Trove, my growth on hubs and at my sites is due in large part to the great encouragement you have given me. You are a great fan and I am for you!!! I place tremendous value in your loyalty! Thanks so much and may the seeds in all our gardens grow and bear fruit for the future!!!
Hey Sally's Trove, I added your link to the hub, regarding the phrase "yeowaboutyourcat" - and folks, uh, my dog was NOT happy when he realized I had left his site off the list. He didn't understand and at the risk of our future relationship, I had to get back on here and add him, as well as the cat one dedicated to my sweet Sassy.
Does this mean I'm truly the old woman in the 'puter, who had so many sites she didn't know what to do? It's pretty bad when your dog threatens to "BYTE' you over being left behind and I even heard the gathering of a cat convention from Cat Heaven...my Sassy was chairing...
That's it. The rest of the list can wait. And yes, we own the server.
I had no idea. I thought you have just partnershipinparenting.com. It really is an empire in writing. :)
And your PIP site is still PR0. Rather weird. I started a blog a few months ago and never promoted it. I started posting more often in the past month and now it is a PR2. Maybe there is something wrong with the Google algorithm.
LOL -- and I thought I had a lot of topics and a lot of different blogs and sites. You did need an entire article to go over all of these!
Hi wandererh!!! Thank you for going to PIP, I really don't understand what happened...I keep thinking it will right itself..but I'll just have to keep writing regardless. Dang Google. I would like to understand so I can correct it or not do it again, etc.
geeez the hardest part is not knowing. I don't think it's the variety of articles, as I first thought, because I have visited other blogs who are a 3 or 4 and they have less focus than my site.
It MIGHT be the backlinks, as I have read that weak backlinks can bring down your page rank, and that is the only thing "different" I did. But, I've also read that since we can't control backlinks, tho I did on this one, Google only scores the outgoing links of which I have almost none.
So, I'm back to "I don't know." LOL =))
Hi Robertsloan2
I am rather Gabby. LOL I thought it would give some a giggle. The goal was writing and money. so far it's just writing. hahaha show me the money, please!! =))) Hey, how 'bout them Navy Seals!!! Talk about the good guys!! whoooo eeeee
Marisue I knew you were prolific but I am staggered at the extent of it. You have just given me lots of other places to go. Thanks. keep up the good work!
It's kind of an overdose...causing me to giggle frequently. Only I would take on such an adventure. Well, blame the empty nest. When you've fostered 250+ children, and then they're gone...something weird happens to you. Maybe I've entered the twilight zone. ya think? LOL
Please do go to the sites, they need the traffic. But, keep in mind, some are in infancy. The fun is watching them grow up!!
We're adding clickbank, and ebay, we'll see what happens. I'm taking a course in Internet Marketing when I get to Oklahoma, I just have so much to learn; knowing just enough to be dangerous now...since I did something to PIP, and it dropped from a 4 to a 2 to a zero. Drat it! Which wasn't my original word, tho' I do try to control myself. ha
happy surfing in MarisueLand, or should I say, the sea of Marisue =))
I tried "link:partnershipinparenting.com" and got 5 sites which is a little low. When I searched for your domain, I got 200+ sites. The number of backlinks to your site is not a lot but it doesn't explain PR0. And if the number of backlinks is an issue, how did you get PR4 in the first place?
You didn't do any black hat SEO did you and got Google mad at you? :)
Wow, I can't wait to check out your other sites. Our blessing that you are so prolific.
Hi Wandererh, What is balck hate SEO? I did use a paid to source for backlinks last month. I write something and it goes to ## number of sites with 3 links I put in the article....is that the no no I shouldn't have done? Still, where are those backlinks - it should have been quite a few....hmmm...see, I just don't know enough....what do you think it is?
Hi readabook, please do visit to your heart's content!!! I hope you like them...I have much work to do on them, but it's my future....=))
Black hat SEO techniques are SEO techniques, frowned upon by Google, that you employ to get your site to the top of the engines. Usually these are used by hit and run marketers to get a lot of short term traffic as their site will be black listed once Google finds out about it.
A simple example could be keyword stuffing. I have visited sites in which the only content is their keywords, repeated many times over. And it was Google who led me to them!
I doubt if the paid to source is the problem. Since you can't control who links back to you, I don't think you will be penalized for bad links.
I did notice that you have a lot of keywords in the meta keywords tag. Most people are of the opinion that the tag doesn't matter as the engines don't look at it anymore. But there is a remote possibility that having too many keywords there might set off a flag with Google. If you have changed that around the time you got deranked, that might be something worth looking into.
Hi Wandererh, man!! I really appreciate your taking the time to help me with this. I've worked so hard on that site, lived it breathed it for 4 years and when it went to a 4 I was estatic, and very deflated later, as you can imagine.
So, do you think I should undo some tags on some of the posts??
I could do that pretty easily.....
@wanderith You should do a hub on all of this stuff. I think it would be great.
Hey Marisue, don't worry about it, I love a good mystery. I know you worked hard on the site, it shows. :) Unfortunately, Google is not good enough to recognize great writing yet.
Anyway, general opinion is to limit the number of keywords to 20 or less. Some even suggested deleting the tag altogether. I have never tested this personally so that's that best information I can give you. Hope it helps. And you might want to network more and get more backlinks, I think that will be good for your PR in the long run.
Hey sixtyorso, I'm no expert on SEO so I might just do a hub on basic SEO. I will be guaranteed to learn a lot of things. :)
Thanks Wandererh I appreciate it!! It IS a mystery, and I'll see what I can do about the tag cloud. I definitely need to work on backlinks, that's the single most valuable tool as I have read.
I'm putting up some articles on ezine and buzzle, just for more 5+ ranking backlinks. Have to do it alot !! =)) and do write that hub!
Hang on there. I'm not talking about the tag cloud. I'm talking about the meta keywords tag you have in your html file. The keywords on the first line are: "armor, druggies, gangs, good mood, healthy parenting attitudes, peer pressure". You have a total of about 9 lines.
Prolific you, Marisue! I'll visit your sites. I'm sure, I'll always take home something after reading anything you write.
Sorry for the technical problem here. Could be the server. I clicked only once but my comments appeared thrice.
wandererh....hmmm... I'll go take a look....LOL some of this is greek to me...LOL
I used to ignore this stuff in the past too but I'm looking into the details now. I know you are writing your tail off but just a simple tweak here and there could bring in more traffic than all the writing would. :)
You're right! PIP already has a volume of info - now I need to market it, otherwise, it's like putting more water in the ocean!!! =)) I'm going to email you a few questions...check your mail this morning later...
I am impressed with the number of sites you run and update. I will definitely need to visit a few in the coming days!
Hi SWP, I am working hard on that empire...LOL but still have a lot to learn. My brother doesn't have as much time to teach me, but I have learned how to do the photos in the headers and the widget arrangements lately. LOL I need to do more backlinking. Man, by the time a person learns the Internet, they're in the poor house. haha
I can definitely submit a few of your links to a few places. I do not guarantee bucket loads of traffic, but a link always helps :).
oooo that would be super dooper, I need all the help I can get....if I can help you, let me know how!! =))) thank you!!
Wowee how do manage to do all this writing you are amazing. :)
I know...it's overwhelming...I need to quit my day job and just write: I'll never be rich because being poor takes all my time.

Marisue,
You are keeping some webhosting and domain name company in the chips. How do you keep up with so many sites?
I can't wait to read what you have to say about the payday loan business. You are much too soft heated to survive in that world. I have known owners of those businesses and they justify it on the basis of, "It serves a useful purpose ... if not me, then someone else would be taking advantage of the poor people."
Good luck with all your sites. Not sure how you expect to do anything other than look after these sites.
