Tip 10 ... 'Try' not to drink and drive? WTF? How about an unquivocal 'DO NOT drink and drive'?

Yeah, I'm with Anon - there should be no middle ground here. If you decide to [indirectly] put other peoples' lives in jeopardy by hitting the road while intoxicated, you deserve jail time for a long, long time.

"If you decide to [indirectly] put other peoples' lives in jeopardy, [by doing something that can cause harm to others], you deserve jail time for a long, long time."

How is this a fair statement? From this alone, one can build a compelling argument that anyone who simply does anything that could put others in mortal jeopardy deserves to go to prison for a long time. Second hand smoke, boating on lakes, driving at all, for that matter.

And "putting people's lives in jeopardy" is a somewhat vague statement. Do you mean situations that arise wherein the injuries are immediately life threatening? If so, you would still have to restrict motorized boating, recreational activities involving anything mechanical, lawn care using motorized equipment might harm a passerby, and so on. And if you use a less stringent definition like: "Instances where a person's actions have negative effects on another person," then you would run into a different problem. Should we now outlaw fatty, unhealthy food since that will cause those people to be unhealthy, which will in turn raise costs of health insurance as these people will need healthcare for their ruined gastrointestinal tracts and diabetes, which in turn will have a negative effect on those few healthy people, because they might have to pay more for something they never did.

I'm not saying I am at all for drunk driving, but saying that 'things that *could* harm people need to be punished for a long time' is a rash thing, to me.
