Night Lit with Love
59
I wrote this one day when our power had gone out. I didn't have much to do, so I grabbed a candle and sat down to write. I wrote about someone I was really into at the time. My mind was on her and I really had no way of contacting her, so I did it through writing. I'm not sure if it was the atmosphere or not, but I like how it turned out.
I hope you do too.
Night Lit with Love
Cut off from the outside, and the outside means you
No way of contact, but my need continues
to grow from this distance, feelings unchanged
I've felt this before, so it doesn't seem strange
I'm thinking it's love, but it's too soon to tell
Darkness surrounds me. Hmm, what is that smell?
The night grows nearer, as candlelight dances
I stare in the flame and think of past romances
Red scented candle, smells just like love
Warm to the touch, and melts into blood
Reflections of warmth in melted down wax
Thoughts of your soft lips help me relax
Perfectly formed; they beg to be kissed
Words I just spoke: "It's you that I miss"
My fingertip dipped, and covered with love
Feels like addiction, because love is a drug
If I touched you right now, would it feel like this?
Trace the curve of your figure with my fingertips
Liquid love grows deeper, time measured in rings
around glass-encased candles, protection it seems
We're back on my bed; we're lying on our sides
I'm hoping to hold you, as I stare in your eyes
Your soft-spoken words are beginning to fade
I'm listening closer, in these shadows of shade
They darken my smile, as it's hard to see
But I'll tell you right now; these feelings succeed
I'm still smiling for you, and because of you too
I'll wait for your warmth, not this candle-made stew
There's not enough wax to cover my body
Pour your feelings down on me; to show that you got me
The wax creeps up the wick, and puts out the flame
I write in the darkness, and I still feel the same
I'll write in the dark, if that is alright
I'll wait for your love, to light up my night
