Nike Hyperdunk: The New Basketball Shoe

Back in September '08, my varsity high school basketball team was looking for team shoes. We had a sportswear guy come in and he showed us a bunch of shoes along with a catalog with each of those shoes. But there was another shoe in the catalog that he did not show us. It was the new Nike Hyperdunk. Some of the players on my team had seen it before, and we began asking about it. The sportswear guy said he didn't bring any to show us because the Nike Hyperdunk was very popular and his business was sold out of them. As a team, we agreed that we wanted the Nike Hyperdunk. It was supposed to be a really good shoe and it looked good. So we asked around and we found that we could get some from somewhere else if we were willing to wait a little while. We did wait and got them for a good price. When the shoes came in, we looked great in them and felt really good playing in the too. I noticed how much lighter they were that the other shoes that I had tried. Now our basketball season is over...we made it to the Final Four in our Nike Hyperdunks and really enjoyed them. Here is a little info on the Hyperdunks if you are looking into purchasing some.

First, I know everyone has different tastes, but me and the rest of my team and almost everyone I have talked to really likes the way the Nike Hyperdunks look. There is a picture below. They are high top shoes to protect players from hurting an ankle. Nike swoosh on the side, many small stripes, toe covered in front. There are a variety of colors you can get the Hyperdunk in. My school is black and red so we got the black shoe with red stripes. Other colors I have seen are, white, grey, blue with white stripes. black with blue stripes, and orange. I am sure there are more colors. One problem with the appearance is that after a while, some of the stripes will detach. The small stripes are like threads and if you put the shoes to good use, minor parts of the threads will come off of the shoe...nothing major - not very noticeable unless you really look close.

Additionally, as far as playing in the Nike Hyperdunks went, I thought they were great. They were definitely comfortable and had good soles. They come pretty high up the ankle so you can fasten them up good to keep you from rolling an ankle. They have great traction. The bottoms really do their job when you quickly change directions. I never had problems with sliding when sliding. They are light and really good for jumping. Much better than shox which can tear. Moreover, they provide great support. None of my team had problems with shin splints and only 1 kid rolled his ankle, but he came down on someone's foot and had had ankle problems previously. The tongue will stay in place and not slide over to the side like many shoes' tongues do. Our star player who probably used his shoes the most and did the most in them did have one of his shoes tear. The back of the heel tore apart from the bottom of the sole. He still played one game with them like that. That is the only problem that my team had with them all season. We thought they were great shoes and a greaty buy. I hope you can say the same!
