Nintendo Skins
58Do you really need a Nintendo Skin?
Absolutely. You already know
the quality of the different Nintndo Game Console on the market today.
But their outer appearance is...frugal, to put it like that ;-) And
here come the Nintendo Skins
into play: they will make your Nintendo Game Console (be it the
Nintendo Wii, DS, DS Lite, DSi or even the Nintendo Wii Fit System)
something unique. It will be standing out from the crowd. And this
should be your objective. Why this? Well, imagine your kids going to a
sleep over and heavy Nintendo DS gaming is scheduled. The unique skin
design of their gaming device will make them easy to recognize. And by
the way: a really freaky Nintendo skin design will make your kids the
hit!
But this is not only about kids, it is also about you and
your own Nintendo game console. You can add a colourful image to it, in
the truest sense of the word. Set yourself apart from the other game
console owners. OK, I have to admit it, I am really passionate about
Nitendo skins. I like them very much. Nintendo skins also cover and
protect our gaming consoles and the remotes - another reason to try
them out, since hand perspiration can be pretty aggressive.
But
the main argument stays for last: they are simply beautiful! Nintendo
skins make things look different and they add individuality.
What are the different materials Nintendo skins are made of?
In
a nutshell, Nintendo skins are adhesive-backed vinyl pieces pre-cut to
fit your Wii, Wii Fit DS, DSi or DS Lite. These materials are flexible
and relatively easy to apply. BUT: not all Nintendo Skins are created
equal! There are two different vinyls that are used for skin
production: 1) the calendared vinyl and 2) the cast vinyl. So what is
the difference?
1) Calendered Vinyl: an inexpensive material
mostly used for short term applications on signs. But inexpensive means
also bad quality: calendered vinyl has problems with fading in
inconsistencies in colour. It may also shrink over time and is less
pliable, what makes easy application a little difficult. My advice:
refrain from using this, you will get headaches.
2) Cast vinyl:
the mercedes of materials for skins. Higher quality, thinner material,
easy to apply, a higher gloss point, practically no discoloration and
no shrinking. All these features make cast vinyl THE ideal material to
be used for Nintendo skins. Yes, it will cost more - and yes, it is
worth it, every penny of it. Years from now, your cast vinyl Nintendo
skins will look the same!
How to apply your Nintendo skin?
First, you have to clean the surface, removing grease and stains.
You may want to use a non-fuzzing cloth with cleansing alcohol. This
works best in my experience. Then you can begin the installation
process. Don't be frightened, it is a lot easier than you think, since
good quality cast vinyl have a special adhesive that allows
repositioning. Even if you see small air bubbles and wrinkles after
installation, this special adhesive allows you to push them down and
out. In general, they can also be removed and applied again, if errors
were made. Another advantage of using high quality skins is the
removability even after years, without leaving any nasty goo on your
Nintendo game console (a great feature when you plan to resell your
Nintendo one day).
Conclusion
Try a protective Nintendo skin made of cast vinyl. You'll see the
difference - I promise. ;-) That way, you will make your Nintendo game
console a unique piece of art. So, when will you get your Nintendo Skin?
This is what you can do to your game console with Nintendo skins! Aren't they beautiful?
